  • Just had the best weekend up at Dalby Forest atching the MTB World Cup :D

I'm putting some photo's up on my facebook page.

seen a couple of bad crashes did'nt look pretty one on friday night on the sprint races around Pickering and a very nasty one in the Junior Men and Women races on saturday.
Felt sorry for the poor girl who ended doing a bad face plant off the bike at the bottom of Medusa's Drop.

Just wondered what channel was it shown on TV?
If anyone missed it check out Eurosport2 UK channel 411 on Thursday at 5pm.

I was gutted after finding out about the mens finish as i decided to leave early to beat the crowds :(

To be honest.... and seeing as i'm now a grumpy old bugger most of the time I like riding on my own, you can pick the pace and change the route if ya fancy a change.

Nice to ride occaisionaly in a group though.

And before Cheshley mentions it the group may have a spare speedlink when required

Ches my man....have a look at the bottom of the page in the link on Long mynd i posted on The List you will see 3 more links for other rides around Long Mynd and have a think which one would be suitable, they vary in length.

I will do a route for each and have a look at the profile and see if i can get a link together so each route can be viewed in 3d on google kml maps.

There's one that's about 24/25 miles and I think that would be the best one considering there's a few miles of tarmac to get our breath back.

I thought that too......i also had a look at the you tube vids......the descent back down the valley side was a cracker.....alll the routes shown take this route back from the gliding club at top of the hill.

Will crack on with the 24/25 miler route then, will give you a shout when done and hopefully you should be able to view it within google earth kml 3d.

nope not yet, ive narrowed it down to 2 that are just a mile apart but one is at the bottom of the hill and 1 is at the top
it will either be birches valley visitor centre or marquis drive (on the road outside the visitor centre carpark)

im going to base the descision on a few factors which are
    best place to start from
which place would make for a better route
    bet place to finish at
    best place to bbq

this is assuming we dont want to have apringslade do the bbq for us, which im guessing by the response or lack of that people would prefer to do it ouselves
actually it would be helpful if everyone posted there bbq preference either springslade or own done

I think you may have to put out an official, large format font posting to grab everyones attention to this so you can sort it Roo.

I'd say that if we would be pushed to make the 5pm at springslade then a self barbie would be the answer. But see what the response is bud.......

I'd rather arrange our own BBQ mate, gives us the options and we're not tied to someone elses timescale as those of us with more than half an hour's drive to get home might want to get off early.

im leaning that way myself. it makes the whole thing more flexible

I like the idea of having it prepared for us, but would prefer to have our own so we wouldn't have to go by set times.
