    HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHESLEY

there is few water crossing on the chase, which I'm thinking do we cross and risk rotti going for a swim or try to avoid

there is a lot of climbing on the monkey but like phoebian said the descent make it worth it
as a guide on the monkey the worse the climb the better the descent

yeah the top sections of the dog are a bit take or leave, if we decide to miss those i can think of better (easier) ways of getting back up to the top after the monkey than the official route (kit bag hill)

I've been talking to someone i know in the forestry commission about where we can have a BBQ so he is sending me the info

if we don't have the springslade BBQ I've narrowed down the parking venue to either marquis drive (it has a visitor centre and a bike wash whilst the centre is open but closes at a stupid early time something like 4:30pm) and locations for BBQ
or Birches Valley the main biking visitor centre again with a bike wash but that shuts at 5pm because its part of the bike shop there
both of those locations have cafes but Birches Valley is at the end of the final section of FTD see phobians latest video. so we would end on a nice mostly downhill mile long section of singletrack

After our ride yesterday at Cannock a few questions have popped into my head about what would make the best ride

    1) Do people want to do the whole of ftd and the monkey or just the monkey and the last section of ftd (that bit carnt be missed)

My reasoning was that the stuff on the north of the chase is far better than ftd but that could be that ive ridden ftd so many times its lost its appeal

    2) Now it might be best to move the cars half way through the day (im playing with this idea at the moment) mainly to miss out a mahooosive hill climb that is truly tiring

    3) Are people ok paying for parking at £3

    4) The BBQ ive spoken to the woman at springslade and she says the price will depend on how many of us are going and what we want. She says we can have stuff like steak and chicken with fresh handmade salad or burgers and hotdogs. Also if we go down the path of having it prepared for us there are only two time options available 5pm when the chiefs still in the cafe or 8pm when she had finished with her other business

Or we could just make our own have what we want when we want

    1) No comment as having never riden there I have no idea where everything is.

    3) Don't mind paying £3 to park

    4) As much as i would love to stay and have a BBQ with everyone I will have to dash home as we're out that night

that's a really nice section and one we will be doing
it has more berms than you can shake a stick at. actually if you were to shake a stick at the berms you would probably fall of your bike so its not really recommended

phoebian is there any sections of the monkey that you think are best avoided or do you think we should do it all. i can easily find ways around sections that are not worth climbing involved

also apart from the last section of ftd is there any section you recommend we do

Can't remember which sections are which, but I just looked at the map and section 9,10, 11 & 12 which I did yesterday were very boring imo.
