Remember on the peaks ride Caz......i had trouble myself on the uphills, but at llandegla i was riding the uphills more than pushing, that's because i got out and pushed myself a little more each time i went out here at my home ground and there aren't any hills, just get out and ride girl...... that's all i did.

We don't want to lose the 'haribo girl' of the group, and don't forget you were suffering with a bad cough at llandegla and you still rode with us, it doesn't matter who is at the rear it's the fact that you came out and rode, that's what counts......good on you Caz.....':D'

Better get that full face you mentioned phobe.........on a serious note, yes your style was smooth and flowing, next time i'll join you and learn from your flow if that's ok bud.

I don't mind pushing it but learning the limits is hairy at times, i found out on the same red section you videoed and made a few mistakes myself.

    hello and good evening

just to let you know a little of what you can expect on the cannock ride

the parking spot is not finalized as yet, but will probably be at springslade lodge http://www.springsladelodge.co.uk/ this will allow us to start off with some fun trails right from the get go. and its a great place to go for food and drinks

the morning ride will probably be mostly natural trails as apposed to purpose built stuff
by the afternoon we will be heading over to the new monkey trail that opens on saturday. this is a truly great trail and easily as good as llandegla if not better.

now another option occurred to me today, is for a BBQ after the ride, i know that the staff at spingslade lodge offered to put one on for us at last years forum ride for about a £10 a head. if there is enough interest i will check with the staff there to see availability

i will be evaluating the various trails around there and keeping in mind the varying abilities to give the most enjoyable ride

Sounds good dude. I felt I got to grips with pumping into the turns and mini berm like features, that helped alot.

Awesome videos Simon!!! Good to see you're using the stumpjumper for what it's made for.

Roo- would you recommend that I should get some knee protectors for Cannock to give my confidence downhill? That's where I need to improve and not sure how technical it is there.

    BBQ afterwards sounds good.
  • I'll be there for that! £10 a head for bbq – burgers better as good as Rich's at Llandegla for that price...!

Used the cradle thingy that came in the sports pack, two big cable ties and a piece of rubber to stop it wobbling.

cool I will have to have a play with the mount this week then ready for kirroughtree at the weekend :D
  • Afternoon,

This is my first post on this forum, i'd be interested in tagging along on the cannock ride if possible. I presume that it is planned to be an all dayer with the BBQ to finish off with. I'll start earning brownie points at home now so i can get an all day pass from kiddie duty.

I'll keep my eyes out for the confirmed meet up times.

    Thanks.
  • Quick question about the camping facilities at Springslade Lodge.
Are there hot showers etc? I have to be in Birmingham on the Sunday morning so would be quite interested in staying over. There doesn't seem to be a lot of detail on the website.

im not sure about the showers at the moment, the lady that runs it was going to have some built but not sure if shes done it yet, she was also on about a bike lock up facility and possibly a bike wash

there is also a nice caravan or camping and caravan club site not sure which about 4 miles away (not far from all the new stuff that has been built) i think they might have, ive only been past it but it looked very smart and the kind of place that would.

someone asked about knee pads for cannock
cannock itself is not rocky but of a sandstone nature and most of the natural trails are soil with very little rocky features (lots fo roots though)
i used to ride with knee pads on all the time, just for confidence, there are some downhill trials that you can go very fast on so if you need the extra confidence go for it but there not essential at cannock
it might be good for phoebian to comment on this cause hes only ridden cannock a few times he will have a fresh perspective on it

I would say knee pads could go a miss, as said the ground is alot softer than other areas but if you need the satisfaction of knowing your knees will be unscratched go for it.

I will wear them because I like to go fast lol :)
