Maybe a lower psi would let the tyre deform more allowing it to shed mud a bit better?

Will have to try this myself as haven't tried it out yet, i ussually have a high 30's psi.

had on a Panaracer fire FR 2.4 on the front and it was too good, I had to pedal downhill on the grassy stuff, but it was good on the rocks, it was run about 30ish PSI, the back tyre was a Panaracer cinder 2.1 run at the same pressure and that did wiggle on the mud but also held up well on the rocks,....I'm gong to get a pair of Panaracer fire XC 2.1 on saturday and try those out, it's a happy medium between both the tyres I was running :D

    Sorry to gatecrash,
But a mtb tyre is different to a road tyre. Where you would put 100 + psi in a road tyre for better rolling, a mtb tyre as better rolling with less pressure in, unless your on road obviously.

Fantastic tyre in dry conditions, prob best that money can buy, abit slippy when wet though.

They are pretty much the same as my nobby nics which have a low tread height, fantastic in the dry but i find them crap in the wet, they are great on dry slabs and such, are very light indeed and give me a very fast roll in all dry conditions.

I've never had a pinch flat or puncture with around 2 years use.

Stick it on the rear and you'll notice the difference but i don't think ther'e good enough for front use.

it is for the back it has a slight hole in the wall, but has been repaired, not bad for a freebie hey
not sure which tyre to put on for tomorrow now, keep the minion on, put the eskar on witha tube or the ralph with a tube
    such hard decisions :D

Well if i were you and your run 2moz doesn't have any gloop i would try the ralph, you will notice a speedy difference straight away, but if it's quite wet don't expect miraculous grip!!!!

    Whoops!!!!!!!!

Instead of using paraffin use diesel cos it won't dry the chain out completely and it'll leave a film of oil inside the chain's rollers, personally i use one of those chain cleaning devices where you run the chain through it (without having to take it of bike) using the old citrus degreaser, then replacing the degreaser with water in the device and then after drying out the device i fill it with a wax type lubricant like krytech wax lube, you just have to give the chain a good run through the device with each stage and dry off with a rag before using the wax lube, it works a treat..

After scrubbing the chain on the bike when I clean it after a ride,I half fill an old fabric softener bottle with parafin, drop the chain in and give it a bloody good shake, hang the chain up to dry overnight and refit on the bike, ZX1 friction reducer on each link, let that dry and then a drop of chain lube on each link. Sounds like it takes ages but it doesn't really.

Yeah, have seen the bottle trick on t'internet but using citrus degreaser instead, it really doesn't matter which method you use as long as you know that all the crap is coming out of them rollers.
It took me ages to clean the shifters after the upside down trick i did in that big puddle on the roman road!!!!!!!!!!!! the grit got everywhere.

No time this weekend as I have an Octopush competition (underwater hockey) - probably some maintenace on Sunday but I'm just trying to decide whether to get a park tools chain scrubber or to break the chain and take it off.

If you have a chain with powerlink I'd take it of.

Me and cheshley do our chains different ways, if you look back thru the posts (last page) we have both explained how we do our chains if that helps.
