No time this weekend as I have an Octopush competition (underwater hockey) - probably some maintenace on Sunday but I'm just trying to decide whether to get a park tools chain scrubber or to break the chain and take it off.

If you have a chain with powerlink I'd take it of.

I have a chain and I have some powerlinks - I just have to work out what to do!

hold the link each side of the power link and push them together, this should release the link. you then need to pull the link out. no special tools are needed

Ok, I just need to fit one first as I have bought some powerlinks but not yet fitted them. I have a multitool with a chain tool on it so should be ok.

i went for a ride around cannock this afternoon, the trails are surprisely rideable, very muddy but at the moment its the thick almost solid stuff, if you know what i mean.

one of my riding mates might be coming to the llandegla ride as well

does anybody fancy a ride before then as well

I'd love to but I doubt I'd get my pass stamped for another one, it's hard enough getting 'The Boss' to agree to babysit one day a month over the summer to get out with you guys!!!!! Looks like I'll have to make do with our flat local woods and some road work.

Me and a mate had a ride out in the woods today, thick mud in places but for the most part pretty dry. Weather forecast supposed to be good for the next week or so so hoping to get out a few times for some short runs but with some hilly interval training.

At the minute, Llandegla is looking like Saturday 10th April as phoebian is the only person to have expressed a preference. Either works for me.

Can anyone fill me in about the first climb at Llandelga? Do I need to fit the Spesh with an engine...?

Llandgela climb isn't hard, it's just long, just under 3 miles of steady climb, there's a stop point about 3/4 of the way up that everyone seem,s to have a rest at i've been to Llandegla 4 times and have managed 3 out of the 4 times to get to the stop off point ok :D

the first climb at llandegla is approx 3 3/4 miles long, alll you need to do is pace yourself
but we'll probably end up haveing a few rests on the way up, its not that steep just long.
its at the end of the climb you get to choose between the blue and the red, its a bit further on the choice for the black happens, but then it keeps rejoining the red anyway

@ Kangaroo. Myself and a pal were on cannock chase yesterday, quite sirprised how dry it was but also thought it was more rutted in places than normal from where puddles had formed and dried out but still enjoyed it. I know you guys and gals have just had a blast in the peak district (wanted to be there myself but had plans that could not be re-arranged) but myself and a pal are planning on going to the peak district on Saturday 13th of this month. We have never been, we are total virgins to the area but we are itching to get up there. If anyone fancies it, the more the merrier, and if anyone wants to tag along that the knows the area then it would be a huge bonus. But if not we will just put our navigation skills (both truck drivers, bad start) and the "Dark Peak Mountain Biking" book to the challenge and hope not to get lost.

oh i forgot to say, the trail surface at llandegla is quit solid, as it has a hard rock base, not like the peaks where its all rocky jagged rocks but more of a flat bed rock. so is supposingly easy to ride on and really helps on the climb
