    just come across this thread.

When you mean slow, how slow? I'm pretty slow and am interested in coming to Cannock. When you say nature trails, what are they? Only done follow the dog there.

Slow is good for me, I'm still a bit podgy and could do with out holding loads of people up as i would normally do.

    Thanks
    Ian

    Hi Ian

The Natural trails are the non-trail centre trails ie: not follow the dog or Monkey trail.

How slow? Well, nobody ever gets left behind on their own. Faster riders might shoot ahead but will always wait up at the end of a section. None of us are XC race whippets!

Conti Mountain Kings or Maxxis High rollers ? Which would you choose and why.

I'd have the MK's out of personal experience. I paid 10 quid each for my 2.4's with wire bead and single ply walls and they have lasted me a year with good grip and only one puncture until the side wall split along the bead yesterday. I know that a lot of people rate the Maxxis highly but given that they both cost about the same I would stick to what I know works for me.

Heard good and bad reports about the MK's. Heard mostly good about the HR's. Looks like I'll go for the HR's.

.....or should I get another pair of Kenda Nevegals??? :? :?

  • Imagine the extra weight to pedal up the next hill! lol...oohh it would only be halfway up the hill as you'd either puke or have a heart attack

It's an american show, on the travel network over there and on Good Food over here.

Adam Richman travels around the country attempting the biggest eating challenges set by restaurants.

Our first outing of 2011 will be to Lee Quarry with the possibility of a trek over to Cragg Quarry if the link trail has been finished. I've never been so if anyone wants to chip in with information about parking etc please feel free.

Usual plan, meeting 9.30ish for a 10:00am start and hopefully the weather will be better than our last 'group' ride there, when only 2 people braved the rain.

Lee quarry is situated just off the A681 Newchurch Rd. Near Bacup in Lancs. Park in the 'dead end' rd at the back of the futures centre. Postcode OL13 0BB
There are no facilities on site whatsoever, so bring some grub and a drink with you.

No station in Bacup, looking online the nearest seems to be Todmorden but you're talking 5 miles each way.

  • Hi there, I'm new to the forum (and cycling) but this sounds interesting

    Please excuse my questions!

How many people usually attend these organised rides?
I've never been to the Peak DIstrict but is it far from Birmingham?
I've also never been to Cannock Chase, are the trails OK for newbies?
Are the rides usually on a Saturday or Sunday?
    And finally
Would anyone mind if I tagged along? I'm a big guy trying to lose weight and need some inspiration to get back on the bike.

Sorry in advance for my questions, but if you don't ask then you'll never know :?

    Hiya,
The rides are perfect for a newbie, not too techie and at a pace anyone can ride to, no one gets left behind.
It depends on where the rides are as to how many riders go, distance and work, there has been in the teens amount of people or just a few.
The peaks isn't far from Birmingham, It's Derbyshire so quite easy to get to :D
I don't know about the Cannock trails as I've not ridden them...yet :D but most on here know more about them.
The rides are varied as to saturdays and sundays.

And most of all, you are welcome to join on any of the rides :D
