if you was doing the ride a week later it would only cost you £4 per car as it drops on first of november...just a bit of advice, make sure you have money to get in,as you cant pay by credit/bank card...i went today with bro and had to drive back into thornton le dale to the post office to get some cash,as the women on toll wouldnt let us pay at visitors centre like we have done before.

and imo i wouldnt class the red route in dalby as a red, they have taken out a few of the best bits, and the few drop offs there are have chicken runs now, from what ive seen what you guys ride, dalby should be a breeze for you as its all smooth and fast flowing now. :D

I loved Dalby when I went a couple of months ago. I wonder if I can manage to get a pass from the missus for the weekend....

I also wonder if my car will be fixed before then :(

    Thread Title Change

Saturday 20th November will see the Slow Riders return to Cannock Chase. The plan is to ride some natural trails in the afternoon for a couple of hours before returning to Springslade Lodge for munchies then setting out under lights to ride the red graded Follow The Dog trail.

Specifics are to be confirmed but the start time will be 12 or 1pm for the first part of the ride.

Keep an eye on this thread for more info or join the Slow Rides for Unfit People group on Facebook....

its on the same road as the German war cemetery,
go past the cemetery in the direction of brocton and its on the left about 1/2 mile down the road. there's a teapot shaped sign hanging by the side of the road

What light you putting on your helmet Tammy? I've got a P7 torch and that goes on with a couple of zip ties....

  • Hi Guys,

I know i'm jumping the gun a bit but I have a couple of ideas for a Peak District ride on the 4th December that would cover some new ground and would hopefully be all weather!!

    Route 1.
Set out from the Grouse Inn by Totley Moor, across Totley Moor, pick up the A6187 and then go down into Blacka Plantation, for Roo and James this is the reverse of the last time we did this. Back up to the road and onto Houndkirk Moor, Lady Cannings Plantation and up to Ringinglow. From here there is a fair bit of roadwork up to and around Redmires Reservoirs but from here we can go across Stanage Pole and Down Stanage Edge, Roo and James will enjoy this! Once again from here it’s roadwork back to Lady Cannings Plantation and onto the Houndkirk Road to return to the Grouse Inn.

    Route 2.
Set out from Hope and up the Roman Road, down Jaggers Clough, up to Hollins Cross, along Rushup Edge to the road and then turn left to pick up the Pennine Bridleway to Perryfoot and then work our way across to pick up the Limestone Way and then down Cavedale, especially for James and Roo, to Castleton and back to Hope. Lots of variations possible on this route dependent on direction of travel.
  • well if it's planned for the 4th december sadly i wont be joining as i'll be working on nights shifts

Both sound OK (weather permiting) some new descents there for me to try out
It's been quite a while since I've been out for a ride with the "gang"
