Ohh 1 other thought if we are going from the library C/P in Wendover there is normally a height restriction barrier so if you have roof mounted bike racks you have been warned

Come on Phoebs ya know ya want to... 2 fast downhills with your name on em and a few tricky tech climbs thrown in for good measure

Mark_K you may recognise some of the route from the Bucks MTB Xmas ride but without the killer climb at the end and the torrential rain lol

    It does sounds very tempting!

I need to see how my funds are on the weekend. Probably driving to Cromer beach or somewhere around there on Saturday and that having to drive to the ride on Sunday could leave petrol monies shortish, though I do get paid on the 30th.

    I reckon I'll make it.

    :)

as to the food thing this weekend, i would prefer to get something in as i dont really like buffet food or sandwiiches (except bacon of coursr)

is there a good curry place or a nice chip shop there we could get stuff from

Yer plenty of good cafes and pubs with food in Wendover !
  • Just been looking at your thread here and looks like a group I'd like to join and I will be kicking my heels on Sunday (Wife away)

I've not got a very fancy bike - GT avalanche 2.0

Also what types of tyres would you be running as I have a set that do me on the road with a tiny bit of off road - Michelin XC Hard Terrain as seen here:

    http://two-wheels.michelin.com/2w/front ... 37&lang=EN

What other stuff do you guys take with you?

Sorry I should of asked if you have room for another?

There's plenty of room for anyone :)

Generally people take a puncture repair kit, pump, spare tube/tyre as the bear minimum.

    (awaits Roo's tyre input)

weekendwonder come along. we all wait for eachother along the way and GT avalanche 2.0 is a pretty tasty bike, so no worries there. hope to see you
  • Thanks for the welcome, all sounding very tempting.

Just sorting myself out a new lid, as I nearly brained myself the other week.

Also need to figure what tyres to wear.

'Also need to figure what tyres to wear'

    Round ones are best

Seriously though don't get too hung up on tyre choice all you need for Wendover at this time of year is something not too knobbly and reasonably fast rolling.

I'm thinking about bringing the DSLR to see if I can get any decent pics. You'll all have to wait for me to catch you up and then get ahead where Dave can point out any good places for pics :)

We try to aim at one ride per month, sometimes two.

The next ride will be at Coed Y Brenin on the 7th August at 10:00am

    thanks phoebian see you tomorrow.

Whats the terrain going to be like and how technical is the riding? Im just wondering which bike to take?

I have 140mm hardcore hardtail and a super light weight rigid bike. Im quite comfortable with riding the rigid bike off road. But if the descents are bumpy or very technical (something like Afan) I'd prefer to use suspension. otherwise I'll prob be OK on the rigid.

I have never been there myself, Frosty would be the person to talk to.

But personally I'd take something with a little bounce.

Saying that I only have the one bike!
