It was rather rocky! But I still managed to get some speed!!
And being blinded by my own tears... Which isn't good when you're trying to roll over a steepish demolision of a trail!0 -
Nalla wrote:I might be up for that ride Mick.....if i could find the place on the map to see how far i'd have to travel. Although reading the description on that site it sounds a toughie!
here's the village at the start of the route
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&sourc ... ngdom&z=11
as for the route the intro describes it as,\ the outward route presents no real problems a steady climb on a stone track followed by a easy forest section. but then turns into the hardest, roughest and steepest climb in the book which means pushing i recken with one of the best decents in the dale's. This is a brief intro to what the route is like, i'll try and scan the route description and email it to anyone intrested in doing it.0 -

Great day in the peaks yesterday, thanks to all who came and made it such an enjoyable day......When are we going again????
Have just got home after spending the night at the in-laws. Will upload pics and vids as soon as I can.0 -
i think extra points should go to all those who did it on a hardtail (even down th beast)what are brakes for again0
-
really good videos there
video 1
i still like that descent, but maybe the descent in video 2 is now getting the top spot
video two
when you can't see (cause your eyes are streaming) the best thing is contact lenses and riding glasses, not only does it stop the wind in the eyes but gives you better peripheral vision and on really bumpy stuff stops your vision going up and down as your glasses bounce around
that is one great descent as you can see it lasts over 5 mins even at the speed simon is doing it
video three
classic clip when you stop out side the ladybower inn, and paul comes squeaking past
video 4
the beast, wow great, i want to go back right nowwhat are brakes for again0 -
hy keven some of those photos you put up on facebook would make ace caption compotions
try posting one on here and see what people come up withwhat are brakes for again0 -
I got my contacts earlier today will invest in some riding specs when I get paid!0

Great vids Si, as for riding specs bolle contour safety specs, you can get them for around £7 ish scratch resistance fog proof good value and in 3 lens colours smoke, amber and tint.0

I got some Bolle safety specs from this site and yeah the were around £7
but the ones I got weren't any good for me on the bike so gave them to Keven to wear for work. They steamed up when riding when I wore the strap with them and when I didn't wear the strap I was forever pushing them up as I felt like they were falling off my nose ;p
Maybe Jono has had better experience with his.

I like my Bolles, they were cheap but it's what I wanted to protect my eyes because I wear contacts. They do steam up for me when I stop, but I just take them off when stationary, once the air flow gets going they soon clear up for me.
Great videos, shame you missed the pheasant in video 3 would have made a tasty supper.0 -
he might of missed the pheasent but he nearly got taken out by a duck at head hieghtwhat are brakes for again0

I'd probs have walked bits of it, we've got a mini beast 15 mins ride away, but it's greasy cobbles, really hard to ride on an XC hardtail, it's like pinball alley lol

Not had much problems with them steaming up but I have to admit that they do fall down abit ... just push them back0
