can i ask what are the hills like at this one ? compared to what we did at cannock ?

The very first climb is tough and you'll end up pushing a lot of it, after that it is all natural singletrack but none of it particulairly rocky or steep. Mid morning there is a long gradual fire road climb wich is doable albeit you'll need the granny ring. In the afternoon we have a longish gradual road climb and a very short single track climb which again you'll need to push.
Your'e thinking about your single speed aren't you?

Hey Guy's i know this might be a bit over the top but would you like me to bring my radio's?

Just that last time we all met at cannock some of us ended up being seperated and few of us did'nt know where the other's were :?

Have we worked out how many is going to be there yet ?

Unfortunately i've decided against attending as have a presentation Monday morning which I had better prepare for. Sad times....

You may want a radio to listen to the England game.

id say bring the radios, then see how many of us turn up
like you said it would of been better at cannock if we had some with us, give one to the leader one to the person who is most likley to be at the back and then to people who you think its best to give them to
i will bring my 3 radios as well
if its just a few of us like when we did the peaks we dont really need them but its best to have the option and we can decide on the day

    Roo, the descents.

1st Descent, 1000mtr stony single track

Minton Batch, 2 miles of continous glorious twisty narrow as f**k single track can be taken as fast or as slow as your nerve allows

Pole Bank Cottage (or campsite) descent, continious 2 miles, 1st mile of wide grassy track, final mile twisty smooth single track with some glorious views, if your brave enough or going slow enough to take your eyes of the track

Hope Bowdler 1 mile of smooth grassy single track

The Batch, another 2 miles of twisty smooth single track with glorious views.

All of this interspersed with shorter bits of technical single track, this is not the Peak District, there is no need to get off and walk down any of these descents, the faster you go down them the more you'll get out of them but a complete novice will have a great ride as well.

I would say it is impossible to get lost as once you start a descent there are no options to take a different turning, all you need to do is wait at the bottom for the last rider.

I doubt I'm going to make this one guys and gals. I'm leading a long ride on Saturday in the Wyre Forest and two hard rides in the baking sun will be too much for me. (real excuse - I'm dog, house and sheep sitting this weekend and can't be away all day on Sunday) - sorry folks.

I hope to make the next Long Mynd ride though, so keep posting please.

    Have a good one.

I think the route takes in a pub lunch so you will be able to fill up with water there. Or, if you're desparate you could use the stream water as it's very clear and comes off the hills there. We did 23 miles today 30miles south of the Long Mynd and ran out of water at 11miles - fortunately we found a very nice couple who allowed 15 riders to top up with water!

Look out for the Co-op, there is a car park on the left and loos at the bottom - I think that's where everyone is meeting. Charges are either £3 or £4 for all day.
