The Lockerbrook descent is actually the one going the other way to Lockerbrook farm(the shortish one) which is generally used as a short climb to the start of the descent in the Vid which is Gores Heights AKA Suicide Brake(some older/local riders will know why its called Suicide Brake)kangaroo wrote:

this is the second desent we will be doing (the lockebrook one) its nice and long and one of my favorites, plus if we like it and have enough energy left there is a opportunity at the end of the ride to do it again

I haven't put a front mech on cos i need to get one with a low slung carrier on so am running the middle sprocket only...surprisingly there isn't much difference in weight between the hardtail and the Trek, it's bloody light i can tell you.2001 Cove Stiffee FR

Shame i missed out due to working nights
I'm thinking about doing a route up in the Yorkshire Dales on either the 7th or 8th July starting of in Horton In Ribblesdale then heading over to Langstrothdale then back to horton via Foxup Moor.
if anyone is intrested in joining then let me know and i'll send you the GPX file for the route or look in the following book

just over 20 miles done including 2 trips down lockerbrook - gorse farm and the beast yes we all did the beast
no mechanicals
no punctures
no offs

I had the beast on video, Including Roo epically endo'ing down a few feet and saving it. But i lost my little muvi clone somewhere on the last down!
Blooming arms ache now though.

Aching all over at the moment, but worth it. I still think my eyes are vibrating!!!!
I don't know about a "I survived the beast" badge, more apt for me would be "I walked the beast" badge, that was scary. Perhaps next time.

I am suling now, my ride didn't happen as no one turned up !..s only went round the local park and trails til I got bored
on the plus side I did get up a rooty lon climb and only had to get off to open the gates.
On the down side I got jeered at by 3 kids riding the trails with no lids on coz I couldn't manage the small drop off...dammmmmit !
