Very nice Mr Jay, looking good. When are you likely to get the last wheel and tyres?Orange 2010 P7 - Custom Build - My New Bikey Poos

i so want one of the these PHA5E bike would look good with my other ones in the front room and give the gf somit else to winge at me about0
-
DMC: in about 2 months as i have to pay back some money to my dad for the brakes.
BFG: they don't make them anymore which is a shame but you can still buy them off ebay like i did and i think they still have some in CRC and wiggle0 -
yer there is still some about and there rather cheap now may well have to build one as a hard core xc bike0
-
Good to see you've got the Pha5e up and running Jay, have been watching this thread with interest, and think you've made a cracking job of the spec and build.
Bike looks great, hope you have many happy miles together!0 -
thanks. had an awesome ride today, found new confidence with the new brakes and the bike all together.
there are a few niggles:
1. the front mech is not working propely so i will buy a new one before the front wheel
2. the headset keeps on tightening it self so i will try and sort that out0 -
The front mech might just be badly adjusted, but if you do buy a new one, slx are quite cheap.0

ah. did you do what i did on my old bso- i cut the front mech in half to get it out of the chain, becasue i din't realise you could take chains apart. i then found the chain was stuck in the frame. i wasn't so stupid i cut through the frame though, luckily0

well i was plain stupid- i made it fixed gear by using solder wire to tie the spokes and cassete together0

got my new slx front mech today and i have fitted it. it's really smooth and quick at shifting. the front mech is the first thing i had to replace on the bike becasue it broke. now i need the same front wheel as the rear. i will have it in about 4 weeks, i hope. then i will start saving for the next project which will be a freeride bike. i am planning on upgrades which i will get before end of this year and possibly a new fork by the end of next year.
anyway here are some pics:

Looks good. what fork are you thinking of getting? maybe a revalation? if the frame can take 140 travel0

sweet shot. just get the photographer to get lower and a bit closer to the berm a bit of after the middle of the curve, tho not so close to get knocked over when your passing.

Looks really good, very envious! I'm really gutted they aren't made any more, I've had to leave my dreams of the Pha5e behind and bet deeper pockets and move onto dreams of a SC Chameleon, unless I can find another bike that does what both these do, i.e climb and drop equally well, any ideas anybody?0

IMO sc chamaleon and kinesis pha5e is probably as good as you will get. there are the options of ragley mmmbop and bluepig and the cove stifee which are very good too. also the 2010 orange crush frame can be bought for £350 which is one of my favourite frames this year.0 -

a maxlight xc120 would fit the bill perfectly check the link in my sig, imo its a great bike and will do everything you want it too, prettty cheap too considering the quality of the frame0 -
ns surge is what you want, but it's a bit more freeridey, a bit less good at climbs0
