2KG!!!!
Bloody hell, mate, take that off as soon as possible!!! Yep that will make a HUGE difference, won't be doing any manuals until you do0 -
my pair of wheels, qr's and rotors come in under 2 kg as does the frame seatpost, saddle and headset0

lawman wrote:37lbs  jeez alive i didnt think it would be that heavy
my xc120 is just over 26 atm with dt wheels and revelations, got some nobby nics comin this week which should knock a bit more off, hopefully it'll be sub 25 then, which aint bad for a bike with 150mm of front travel
i reckon with some lighter kit alround you could get that down to under 30 easy
probably not that much but it's not light and it's not heavy. i'll try and weigh it somehow when i get the upgrades0 -
Yeah, 37lbs sounds waaaay too heavy. My GT Sanction, with heavy duty rims and hubs, Lyriks etc only comes in at 34lb, and there is a lot more bike involved. you sure you got that right?0
-
37lbs? no way that's right, my orange patriot full bouncer weighed about that. Surely your front wheel alone can't weigh 2kg, i don't believe that! My scott weighs about 28lbs.0

oh, you never said that! still, seems a little heavy though...0

Good work for that budget! looks great, impressed!Santa Cruz Chameleon
Orange Alpine 1600 -
Looks very good.
But is it the small frame or that crank is huge?0 -
the frame is 14". the top tube is as long as on my old bike with a frame size of 18". it just provides alot of standover height making downhills and jumps easy to go on0
-
Great build, good to see it finished. what/whereabouts do you ride? what is this for- light dh and fr?0

37lbs and you wouldn't want to ride it even if you could over a sustained ' cross country' period. I'll take a punt at around 32-34 lbs. If so you'll have muscles on muscles and a chest to match in no time. It's good for you.0
-
If my HandsomeDog is under 28lbs then I can't see the Kenesis being over 30lbs. Mind you the fork is pretty beefy...
Nice looking bike though (considering it has suspension )0 -
That'll be 30 - 32lbs tops mate.
It looks really nice mate and props to you for shopping round and doing it all yourself
I still borrow the odd bit of dosh from my olds for my bikes and I'm 36 :oops:I hate it when people say David Beckham's stupid...its not like anyone ever says: 'Stephen Hawking - he's s**t at football.' Paul Calf0 -
i reckon its deffo over 30, if the front wheel weighs 2 kg and the frame is also around 2kg and the forks are nearer 2.5kg then the rest would take it into the mid 30 range0

How was your first ride Jay? Did you manage to pedal that 57lb monster? :roll:Now that we are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak and not to please ourselves. ROMANS 15:10

awesome but drivetrain is making a strange noise, front mech does't shift to gear 1, front brake decided to lock up when i went off the train, shifters are abit dodgy and the headset keeps on tightening it self making steering hard byr everything else is working perfectly. i'm most impressed with the forks and rear mech so far0 -
hi guys my brakes are totall broken. no riding pics for about a month. if any one wants to know the details say so. i'm not going to write them down at this moment as i'm really pissed off0
-
oh man! gutted for you!
You're gonna have to explain the issue though as I am sure someone on here can help you get back out on it as quickly and cheeply as possible
Chin up lad, it's time to fix your bike!0 -

ok so my dad went to pick up the Avid Elixir 5s from the royal mail depot and they were on my desk when i came back from school. i fitted them and they are pretty amazing. pretty much bedded in already and they work very well. will be going to delamere this saturday to test them. and also they were £135 for the pair including 185mm/185mm rotors from merlin. some pics:
i'm really happy and they look better than i thought0 -
