if you're gonna go used, some older italian marzocchis would be nice, all mountains or some Z1's0 -

Marzocchi XC600 TST2 2008 - 140mm - £200
Marzocchi 44 RLO 2010 - 120mm (extendable to 140mm) - £195
Keep an eye when the 44 RLO 120mm version is back in stock at Merlins, because you
can extend it to 140mm by removing spacer, and for £185 I think it's the cheapest you
can get close to 140mm of travel, from a new fork.

read the reviews on that marzocchi XC600, i was thinking about buying some... after reading the reviews i didn't touch them. Not surprised they're only £200, but IMO they should be giving them away for free. Personally, i would stay away from any modern marzocchi products. All total shite.
EDIT: maybe it was last years i saw the reviews on, but seriously, they were BAD. At least half to two thirds had had blown air cartidges. DO NOT BUY MODERN MARZOCCHI.0 -

Looking good Jay!!
I have been looking at this since you first started, don't know what it is about that frame but i love it. It will be a job well done when finished!
Its pushing me to build my own over the summer and have been looking at some of the on-one frames plus some no name ones, but we shall see!0 -

if you can build a bike go for it. it's a great experiance and you can have it up to a spec that you want0 -
Yeah, I definitely want to build one, but i;m still looking as i'm not sure what i want to at the moment :? either upgrade my Marin and move parts across to a new frame or build a new bike from scratch.0

XC mostly, but open to pretty much everything. A good all rounder would be good0

Thanks Jay,
I'm gonna go away and have a real long think about it, there's no rush!
Good luck with the rest of the build

an update on progress. the seat clamp and seatpost arrived so i fitted them. i stipped down the old bike and cleaned the brakes, wheels and grips.using a wire brush i got rid of the rust on the rotors which worked a treat. fitted the cassete, rear brake and rear wheel onto the frame.
pics:
btw there is rust on the other side of the rotor which i will get rid off tommorow
on thursday/friday i will be buying:saddle,stem,handlebars,chain,gear cables,shifters, chainstay protector and frame stickers0 -

What handlebars/stem you going to use?
Also some advice - don't go cheap on the gear inner/outer - I recommend XT inner and XTR outer0 -

Ah OK. I have the same stem but in 50mm0 -
cool. 60mm is the only one they have left. would prefer a 75mm long one but 60mm is ok. only 15mm shorter0

stem's one of the last things you should get. It's the final adjustment you can make and actually do something about. It's like me, I've got all the bits except frame and stem. Stem being the last bit before the steerer gets chopped.0

The crankset looks huge on such a small bike
Looking good though! will be nice once its up and running!0 -
