The numbers thing makes more sense to me.
Where else in the UK a 31" waist considered medium? Maybe just me though....

Good spot; thanks! 32 (pre-)ordered, and just smaller sizes left now.

Pleasure Dr L, I have gone for size 30 which had better be inline with Castelli small.
How many pairs have people gone for?

Make sure you all come and feedback, as I will. Be interested to see what opinions of them are, and personally how they compare with my current bibs of choice.

Lmao, but for the middle chain/silver detail, that could have been a goer

Thanks, probably L or XL. I would like some Gore C7, but they are like £160 and I am not spending that. I would spend £100 tops for a top level bib tight.

I bought the deep winter ones recently, but won't get to try them until the coming winter, but find their bibshorts easily on a par with Rapha.

Just get padless bibtights, cheaper and no pad comfort lottery. My both Assos pairs (one warmer, one thinner) have been functional, comfortable and good value due to being durable (6 and 4 years)

I use padless ones for commuting, the Lusso Repel ones, and they have been great. My Gore ones have been amazing for the last 5 years but of course, frequent use means that the pad is now nearing the end of its life.

If I could buy some Assos unpadded ones, I would probably do it, but they don't sell them anymore.

    Hi Daniel,

Thanks, yes, I did have a look. They do look good, but for the price I am almost prepared to pay £125 and get the Gore ones, which I know will be amazing. I am still looking though, and it is definitely food for thought! :D

Those Assos ones I have seen before, thanks, but the are only fleecy ones, I would like ones with at least DWR treatment, if not windstopper / water resistant material, as they will be used in awful conditions.

Fair enough matey - have you ever worn Sorpassos or ridden with the Progetto X2 pad, it's really rather good.
Reviews seem to be glowing across the board.

The ones from Westbrook would leave you with about £55 change versus the Gore ones.

I've never had much luck with Gore products - with the exception of the shakedry jacket (in my top 5 purchases as it's SO versatile, breathable AND small)), their bib offerings never quite fit me properly, but I appreciate that our bodyshapes are all individual.
I just have a pair of 3\4 bibs that I batter on the turbo now

    Thanks Daniel,

Yes, I did have a look, they aren't warm enough (according to Castelli). I would have to go for the NANO FLEX PRO 2 BIBTIGHT or the SORPASSO 2 WIND BIBTIGHT to match the Gore's. The equivalent Gore's to the normal sorpasso's are the C7 Partial ones and get those for under £100 so if they are similar price I would still go for the Gore's. Tried and trusted and all of that.

In addition Gore warranty is second to none, they fix everything for free, even after 2 years of use. I don't believe Castelli offer this kind of service.

I understand, most of my kit is Gore, I have 2 C7 summer bib shorts, they are amazing, I also have 2 fleecy ones, and some bib knickers. I do rate them highly but I am happy to try other things.

Bikeradar hive mind - any bargain 25mm performance clinchers about? My GP4000s are cut to ribbons... again.

Veloflex Master are pretty good and are available in 25mm with tan walls.
Not sure they fall into the bargain category though.

For cheapy tanwall tyres Planet X have these Jack Brown tyres, no idea if they're complete bobbins or not:

The Planet X mile munchers are decent for the money, but fall down on the 'performance' part of the brief - they feel broadly similar to Schwalbe Durano's I'd say, perhaps a teeny bit lighter/easier rolling.

They do look awesome though, which is nice....

Would certainly give the Jack Brown race tyres a go but they've not been in stock (in tan wall) last few times I've done PX orders.

I quite like Continental GrandPrix GT, around £25 when I last bought some. They are in-between the GP4000s and GP4S in terms of puncher protection. Can't say I have noticed them being any slower than the GP4000s.

But as ITB mentioned, the dimensions are weird - HUGE long top tube
    565 being the shortest on a 50 - I need a 545 or thereabouts.
