Anyway, enough moaning and of course I could have been unlucky.
When it happens next I'll buy new wheels: something cheap and black but with a Shimano freehub. Not this Italian stuff0 -

Use code spring10 for extra 10% off, and don't forget quidco too!
Is that like the one I paid £24 without any discount code?
https://www.rutlandcycling.com/clothing ... red_230861I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -

Indeed, but everyone knows black tops look cooler0 -

yet I find that my Fulcrums are excellent - I've even got a racing sport model currently on my summer bike (would prefer something nicer, but hey) - only issue I've had is with a freehub that split due to some numpty overtightening the cassette (:o) and the front hub fracturing and freeing up a spoke - after >5k miles of abuse0 -

ONLY a broken freehub and a split front hub after 5 K miles? Wow, you must be pleased... :roll:left the forum March 20230 -

If you don't have any credit in your clubcard account but have points you can convert them to 'Faster Vouchers' now in time to claim Evans vouchers:
https://secure.tesco.com/clubcard/faster-vouchers/
I ordered via tesco at end of last week, and received the e-gift voucher today. At the bottom it says -This e-Gift voucher expires 2 years from when it was issued if not used.
After the gift voucher debacle in the autumn... I don't trust Evans to honour anything... I'll presume 6 months, if that....0 -
It does say 6 months on the Tesco Evans page:Any vouchers you receive must be redeemed within 6 months; the expiry date will be shown clearly on your vouchers.
The standard expiry would be two years, but personally I think sooner the better when it comes to using vouchers - never know what might happen in retail.0 -
Cafe du Cycliste sock amnesty.
Riders in London are being urged to hand in outdated, unwanted or unappealing cycling hosiery during a week long sock amnesty, starting on the 21st of March 2019. Trade in a pair of old cycling socks in return for some shiny new ones, ready for your summer rides. Drop by the shop, hand over the socks and walk away scot free. All we ask in return is a sign up to our newsletter.

The front hub split after miles of abuse - considering I occasionally offroaded with these wheels (with 23mm tyres on) - I wasn't that bothered.
I was more bothered with the Mavic rear hub that split after less miles - rendering the rear wheel US - although I do have another hub to rebuild it - it's not an easy build ...0 -

I once rebuilt a Ksyrium... good luck with that...left the forum March 20230 -

yer - thanks ... fortunately I paid nothing for the hub - so the only thing it's going to take is time ... If I can get it rebuilt I'll use it as a turbo wheel at least to start with0 -

Damn, that's a good price - considering flogging the 520 plus and getting the 820 instead at that price.Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

Yeah - that's the prime reason I went with 520 over the 820.Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

820 has physical button for start/stop recording and of course another one for power on/off but yeah touch screen for other functions.
Edit: hold on it's sitting on my PC desk in front of me. It's got three buttons although i've only had it a month & I'm not sure what the third button is for...
Edit 2: third button (number 2 on the link) is to mark a new lapFCN = 40 -

So exactly the same as the 800 then ...
I love my 800 - reliable & effective - it is getting on a bit though ... perhaps £140 for an 820 is too good an opportunity to miss ...0 -

Yeah I still use my 800 for races, long rides and for the full euro maps. The thing I love about my 510 though (which the 820 no doubt does too) is the bt phone connection so you can see who you're ignoring on the phone and the fact that the ride is uploaded before you've parked the bike up.0 -
820 control is different from the 800 tough because the touch screen doesnt respond to pressure and therefore work with a glove on - its needs a conductive material to touch it i.e. skin or a special glove and it also doesnt work well in rain.
Having said that, for £140 I am almost half tempted myself but have no reason to because the 800s I have are still working well. I have one, my son has one and I have a backup in case one ever fails.0 -

820 for £142 vs Lezyne Mega XL for £135 (with BC discount)
Any opinions/experience with the Lezyne?0 -
I now have the 820. I had the 800 for about 6 years and fucking hated it. Constantly losing rides or parts of rides.
I guess i should have ditched Garmin completely, but stuck with what I knew. tbh, it's been faultless since i got it. Yeah the touch screen is a little shoite, but in general use I mainly use the physical buttons anyway.0 -

PBK have some decent deals on Sportful stuff, particularly the bib tights which I've always found to be excellent.
They also have a 20% code for the current season stuff.0 -

See, I dont get this. I believe it, and have heard others say similar, but I think only twice in more years than that has mine frozen, needing a reset to continue. And its been used twice a day every day for commuting and lots of other rides too. I must have done something like 2000 rides with mine. My son hasnt used his as much but its never once skipped a beat that I know of. I dont know why some people are unlucky. I still havent seen another GPS I would rather have, and have decided to pass on the 820 despite the low price currently - I just dont need anything it has over the 800 and some things are a step backwards.0 -
