I do use these machines, cos i'm a lazy @rse. I've ordered a couple as i'll be driving past Halfords this afternoon anyway and it's probably just about worth it just for the cleaning fluid!

I had similar years ago and it wasn't the best but I now have a Park chain Cleaner and it's brilliant, supposed to only do four revolutions of the chain but I give it 5 minutes of cleaning and my chain comes out shiny shiny.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

I've not seen any discount codes about for the bike show at ExCel this month, has anybody else?

Some Carbon 3T bars on CRC and Wiggle for STOOPID money £250 now down to £81 - go through TCB, and it will be sub £80.

My pick is the Stealth Ergonova - gorgeous and comfortable bar, with no red on it anywhere :-)

These bars measure edge to edge, so if you want a 40 c2c, you need a 42.

Trying to stop myself ordering another one to have as a spare.

Please don't...very tempted  when you say "oval shaped tops", are they similar to FSA Energy wing bars, i.e flattish?

Hey L2R, yep not dissimilar, but as they are more errr, ergonomic, they kind of fit the curve of your palm better imho.
I always leave the tops untaped, and just wrap to the 'elbow' if that makes sense.

I just find traditional narrow round bars not as comfortable in comparison.

I have these on 2 bikes, and some Ritchey Carbon WCS Streem bars (wingtop again, don't think you can get them anymore) on my CR1. Unlikely to ever change them, as have matching wcs stem and seatpost.

^cheers DB. Only thing putting me off getting some for my Solace is getting the hydro brake cables through the routing holes, though suppose no great harm in routing them outside instead. That and needing to get a matching stem! Will sleep on it. Do they really help with dampening road vibration?

    No worries.

I fitted to my alloy synapse, and chickened out, and just routed externally for the disc brake cables, it's fine.

In my honest opinion, I believe it does make for a more comfortable ride. I have no proof, and it could just be placebo effect, but I am a convert 8)

Although it's not absolutely clear if they are the disk brake model.

Description of the rims / spoke count suggests not, but the photos are ambiguous.

    They're disc brake. 6 bolt

Not that this is conclusive, but a CRC employee answered a question for this product only 6 days ago - at least you could use that to argue they pay for the return I guess if they turn out not to be so, though I'd be inclined to take a screenshot of it in case it mysteriously disappeared.
    Q: Disc brake or not?
I am looking at the three pictures for this wheelset and the first two show the front and rear hub with disc mount. The third picture shows a different set of wheels. Just wondering which one it is?

A: Yes, from the info we have these would be a Disc Brake wheelset.

EDIT: Ah dhope beat me to it!

The Wiggle page has the correct product name, description and photos of the DB model.

The CRC page is a dog's dinner with elements of both rim and disc in the photos and description. I'd phone them before committing

I'm no wheel expert and I may have been unlucky but these were the worst bit of cycling kit I've ever owned. They came on a Genesis Equilibrium. Within a few months the freehub died. Obviously forums aren't always representative but that seems reasonably common. The same thing happened to a clubmate. Worth stocking up now:

    https://www.edinburghbicycle.com/fulcru ... eehub-body

Fulcrum did send me a warranty replacement freehub but I had to wait ages for them to get them in stock so had to buy an Aksium rear in the meantime.

The bearings on the front died after six months and then spokes started to break after nine months. I gave up and bought an Aksium front...

This was really gentle commuting use, I weigh nothing, avoid potholes and the weather was great that year so not an issue. Does make a mockery of the idea that rims don't wear out on disk brake wheels so they last for years. The tyres lasted longer than the wheels in my case.

Anyway, enough moaning and of course I could have been unlucky.

Just a heads up that Evans Cycles are leaving the Tesco Clubcard voucher scheme again (presumably for good!) - you have until the 31st March to claim Evans Vouchers:
    https://secure.tesco.com/clubcard/boost ... 009830.prd

If you don't have any credit in your clubcard account but have points you can convert them to 'Faster Vouchers' now in time to claim Evans vouchers:

Thanks for the heads up. Just ordered and received mine. Anyone know if Evans will honour the 6 months you normally have to use the voucher once converted?
