Am I likely to see any black friday deals on an Elemnt Bolt? So far they've been stubbornly stuck at retail price everywhere I look

I see Wahoo themselves are offering £25 off the limited edition yellow version, but I already eat enough greenfly and wouldn't want to attract any more.

Also same price at Cycle Republic.

This can be had cheaper with BC discount on top but don't take it for granted. Halfords official stance is that the BC discount isn't available on already discounted items but the odd store assistant might accept it if you ask before you buy.

That’s actually not true. Read the terms on the QR code you need to download now.

In what way is it not true?

    From voucher:

Terms & Conditions: Upon presentation of a valid British Cycling membership card, this voucher entitles you to 10% off any cycling related purchase. The voucher can only be redeemed once per customer in UK stores only. It can be used in conjunction with products on offer through national campaigns but can not be used in conjunction with other offers such as an individual store promotion, other vouchers or colleague or trade card discount. It can also not be exchanged for cash or used online. Photocopies will not be accepted. Halfords Ltd, B98 0DE. Note to store: Please scan the barcode to deduct the discount. Valid from 1st - 30th November 2018 only. Cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. Not available to use online. Only one voucher per customer.

I asked the helpline about this very ambiguous statement when I was looking at buying a Flux before I got the Elite Drivo instead. They said as it's reduced it's not valid. I asked for them to confirm I could not use this voucher and they said that is correct. I have heard of people getting away with it in some shops but I reckon that's more at the discretion on the salesperson as if it gets them a sale it's better than you walking out the shop. This I know they will do as I nearly did when buying a Thule roof rack and bike carrier. They said I couldn't use discount as it was an online only promotion but they rang it through anyway as they could see I was about to change my mind.

All I am saying is, don't expect it but it is possible.

Remember these so called bargains are only any good if you "need" stuff!

All ive seen so far are items that were already reduced just being branded as black friday discounts just to get us all hyped up!

I have the 1000 lumen version, very pleased with it. Wouldn't bother with the 1600 because 1000 is crazy bright anyway. Think power bank says it it 5,000 mah on the box - the 1600 will be more as has more cells. Definitely enough to keep a Garmin topped up but you won't get multiple phone charges out of it. I get a weeks commute out of it (3hours use) easy on second top power, bright enough for unlit roads at 25+ mph, still power left at the end of the week.
Garmin mount is a nice touch - very solid and keeps your bars clutter free. You would struggle to get a Garmin plus Go Pro compatible mount alone for the price. However the light is heavy, I think the 1600 would be a struggle to fit on a that mount due to weight.
May get another one at this price (paid £36 for mine).

I'm not sure - I think the "pulse" is a mix of steady and flash, similar to the cateye's hyperconstant.
I'm waiting for my £30 of TCB's reward wallet Halfords vouchers before I pick it up.
It's replacing my cateye nanoshot+, which I think is the same transition as @slowbike made.

PS - if you go into a Halfords, they'll price match the CR price with the voucher code, according to online.

This comes under proper bargain if you have the cash lying around.

Sigma have Cervelo S5 with Dura Ace and, incredibly, EnVe 3.4 wheels for 3.5k

If a) I wasn't a fat knacker who would just embarrass himself on such a bike and b) I didn't have a bad back which would require either masses of spacers and / or flipping of stem, causing even more embarrassment..... Then I'd be all over this.

Loads of Cervelos discounted at the moment. Officially not cool any more I guess.

Was browsing in Mountain Warehouse a few days ago and spotted COB lights marked up at £15, bought a front one today and cause of the Black Friday thing it came down to a tenner. Smaller than the Moon original but ideal for my needs as a supplementary front light.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Note - both of these are advertised on the website as XM-L2 Cree LED's. They are not, they are XP-G2 LEDs according to the box.

This explains some of the issues with battery life of the unit compared to things like the Raveman PR1200. I'll be doing a teardown shortly to see what's actually in it, and see if I can get rid of some of those stupid modes with a new driver and in the process try to add an up/down mode selector for a couple of quid.

The link to STW has an interesting 3D printed enclosure for the remote switch - given how poor the Halfords solution is, it's not a bad change for a couple of beer tokens.

Mmm. Doesn't seem to be much getting away from the fact that the Ravemen pr900/1200 is a much superior light in a lot of ways (remote despite being one button works in a more sane manner, has dipped beam, better battery life/modes etc) in that same form factor.

Still, given the halfords light includes an out front mount, and is less than half the price of either I'm finding it hard to ignore.

Wolfsbane, in your research have you come across somewhere you might get dipped beam lenses for the bikehut light?

I'm nearly sold on the 1000, just haven't quite clicked buy yet.

The Ravemen is also a little more compact but the weather seals on its ports dont seem as good and the mount feels a bit flimsy (although has been rock solid in use - bear in mind I have only used on road though, not MTB).

I dont use remotes so cant comment and dont particularly care about them.

At £28 less discount, I just bought one of the 1000 lumen Bikehut ones myself. (not entirely sure why but couldnt resist)

For the BF deals on Halfords
    https://www.halfords.com/cycling/bike-l ... nking+desc

    That's the 1600 for £35 - it's almost tempting to buy a second - although I really don't need it.

I've been using it for a few weeks now.
Light - it's a good level of brightness - once you come down 3 settings that is. It needs a shield on the top because the lens material is proud of the unit - so you get blinded by the illumination - a bit of black tape should sort that. it's lasting about 3 or 4 commutes - but I intersperse with club rides - so difficult to give an accurate runtime on any one power. I like the remaining runtime indicator. The remote for £5 is much easier to operate whilst riding than faffing about trying to find the right button on the light. The unit does go into "emergency mode" when it runs low on power.

Bad bits - the remote plugs into the charging socket - having removed the waterproof bung ... eh? what numpty thought that one up! What's worse, is that if you use the outfront mount - when you'd want the remote, the unit is upside down - exposing the charging socket to the rain ... eyewateringly stupid! The only mode selection is downwards - not very handy for those of us who "dip" whilst on the road - that's with the remote or with the light itself. With the light on the outfront mount, you can't see the runtime indicator. And the outfront mount supplied is rubbish (for the 1600) - far too flexible - I noticed the wobble within 5 minutes - on my road bike - on the road ... in daylight - god knows what it's like in the dark!
I'm currently using the rubber mount on the bars - but getting metal GoPro mounts as they're far more sturdy.

For £35 or even £50 I'd buy the light again - much more and I'd look at a different brand.

Yeah. I wanted the Raveman, but I just didn't have the cash for that on top of all the other cycling stuff I've bought recently for N+1, even if it is only an extra £45.. and I'd hoped to convert it to similar for about ~£6 (~£5 driver and £1 Fresnel lens). Being XP-G2 rather than XM-L2 pretty much scuppers that idea, as it changes how I expected the LED's to be driven to achieve the 1600 Lumens ( XM-L2's can handle 3amps, XP-G2's 1.5 amps)

In terms of lenses to use, I've got a new selection of flat polycarbonate lens magnifying lens on order from amazon, and I just try segments of each until it's "ok"... and stick that in front of the LED.

    It's not £31.50 at CR now ...

£35 is still cheap and I have a tendency to round up to the next significant number. So anything over £30 is £35 ...;)
