TimothyW wrote:Has anyone got direct experience of the difference between the Edge 520 and Edge 520 plus?
Would be interested to hear as I'm pretty tempted at £150 for the Edge 520.
I've been happy enough using breadcrumb navigation for the past five years on an edge 500/200 so navigation features aren't a big deal really.
Not directly, although I was in the same boat as yourself - I'd ordered a 520 pack as I'd expected it to be more than good enough for what I wanted, having played with a colleagues one - basically a ANT+ and GPS recorder.
However, I received a 520Plus instead, as the supplier couldn't get me a 520, and I'd already paid them.
I like the live strava segments, and my other half likes the beacon feature, I could quite easily do without, and would have been happy with the 130 instead for similar cash.Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

Nice price, and I'd have seriously considered it, but ffs, Large being limited to 5ft 11? BahIntent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

Not seen a 105 G/S for £300 for a few years. Trying to decide if I should go for this or stump up the extra for R7000....0 -

You can use your Strava for beacon on its own too, my OH insists on it now after an off. I use my phone on an out front mount for live segments etc too. I just mention as I was in the same boat as you guys with the 520 and went with an outfront mount for my phone (Garmin S8) which is waterproof etc.0 -

Bloody hell. I bought mine for £300 about 5 years go! I'd go R7000. The 5800 is excellent, but I'd always want more bling.0 -

Planet X are selling the 27mm Challenge Paris-Roubaix tyres for £20 each. They're a pretty good option as far as winter tyres go, I know there's some big fans of them out there:

Worth using CRC though as you get 4% on quidco instead of 3% on Wiggle - depends how much you value Wiggle Gold/Platinum status.0

Merlin have 10% off all tyres this weekend.
Which makes their pack of two GP4000SIIs 25mm with two inner tubes pretty decent just under £56. Not an uber bargain but you very rarely see them for much less.0 -

Could be worse. Cycling Ireland gets you a 5% discount at CRC. But only at their one store, for things that are in stock.0 -
Anyone seen any bargains for winter wheels ? I think mine are on their way out. Old school rim brakes. None of this disc malarkey. Thanks.0

Quattros are the best wheels I’ve tried especially if you can get them under £2000

None available anywhere in the country and delivery not available when you try, despite what the product page says. Thats a relief saved me £6000...!0 -

Been very pleasantly surprised with the build quality of a set I bought from them recently (and was cheaper than I could get the components for and build myself...)
Although have to say the straight pull disk wheels sound the most tempting to me - novatec straight pull hubs, 24 spokes front and rear, kinlin xr31t rims (Superstar branded as arc31).0 -
I'm on the lookout for some winter tights if anyone knows of any bargains?!0

How wintery? It's uncommon to get actual bargains for winter kit in November. Wiggle has the dhb aeron flt roubaix bibtights for £64. Not great, but not bad either. Won't work below 3C for me. The Sorpasso 2's were around £90 for a long time until August or so, but not anymore.
Your best bet is probably to wait for Black Friday. If you can, that is. Last year I got Pearl Izumi AmFibs at half price.0 -

If you're a size small then these are a bargain.

I'm looking for similar. Hoping for a black Friday bargain I can piggy back onto cyclescheme as I've finished my previous scheme.0
