As more interested in "commuting resilience" vs "aero benefits", wondering if the ASV or the Aeron (in Navy/Green) which are the same price.

They look pretty similar I wonder if the zip or lack of on the asv is the only difference.

Just turned up and they are thin I don't see them lasting more than a season, depending on how hot/cold you run I'd say these are a better bet http://galibier.cc/product/depart/

Thanks. I assumed as much. The zip would be much more useable.

OK those G-ones are wired and not tubeless ready - so nice tyres but not so much of a bargain

I've emailed to find out. I don't recall there ever being a wired G-One though there might be an OEM version that was wired.

HS473 is the 35c folding, tubeless variant. IF that's correct then these are simply shifting old stock as they are now G-One allround.

That number for schwalbe doesn't uniquely identify tyre - HS473 is AFAICT all G-one allrounds.

The fact that the info given by PX is clearly a cutnpaste job from schwalbe (ie incl. "typ") make me think that it is a very old stock and they have copied the wrong bit for the blurb and the right bit for the specs

Could be. I still don't think there's a wired version though. Unless OEM and I can't imagine that has the same identifier?

This Ultegra bike (51 & 53cm only) with hydraulic discs, and Fulcrum 5s looks outstanding value at £1300

I appreciate it is not a synapse (not even looked at the geometry) but a similarly specced one, would cost 3 times this.

This is true (edited my post before seeing your reply) but if you look at the geometry elsewhere, think I found it on a random google search, think the sizing might not quite be as you would expect.

Great deal far better then anything I've found to date. However shame its too big for me.

I need a new do it all commuter (hydro disc's), the only option available i have found is the small Planet X london road Sram Rival 11 Hydro. But i'm reluctant to get a PX

    Shame :-(

If you look at the geometry here http://www.rapidebikes.co.uk/bikes/carbon/rc3
T'would appear that a 51 is a Medium, and a 53 is a Large - assuming the Winstanley sizes match this geometry and seatpost length - think if anyone is interested they need to clarify with Winstanleys.
Not looking for a bike, but assumed from the sizes given that they would likely be too small for me, but looking at the chart, I would in fact need a 'Small', which would equate to a 49.5 - My bikes that fit are all 54.

My LR isn't much slower than my Supersix....sadly. Would love an extra mph or 2 but there isn't much in it.

I have the PX London road in the Sram x1 flavour, I've swapped the 35mm tyres for 28mm Gatorskins, and even on the fairly shocking stock wheels, it's only about 1mph slower than the 'good' road bike. I mainly use it for the commute, where speed doesn't matter to me, but I've used it on fairly short, flat weekend rides up to 40 miles, and it's fine. I wouldn't want to do any climbing with it though.

Will upgrade the wheels soon and would expect that 1mph deficit will reduce further.

Yeah, I built mine up myself and it has a 1600g wheelset on with 28mm Pro 4's. It's been used on 60 mile weekend rides (it's a winter/commuter hack) and there isn't much difference.

The clamps need to be really tight, but it's fine for cleaning and basic maintenance tasks.

I too have the Lidl one as a backup to my Boss S1200 one (or something like that) that I bought from Ribble many moons ago.

I have heard of issues with the clamp on the Lidl one - for me, and without seeing the Aldi one, that looks visually to be the more solid of the two - massive span with all those legs too!

I noticed the span on the legs too, you'd need a decent amount of floor space to use that.

I grabbed a pair of Pro Lite Revo's back when Wiggle were price matching them with a much cheaper incorrect version. Paid £160 instead of £350 - they're actually selling them for £450 now!

Agreed, knee or leg warmers specifically due to the movement.

Had some Gore knee warmers on tuther winter, was followed for a while by a Discovery on a country road - as he came passed, he opened his window, and said something, and i was expecting a torrent of abuse, but he was simply asking about the knee warmers, as he said they stood out really well!

I got the aldi one last time around. Wide leg span as mentioned. I sometimes set it up without tyre legs on full spread and it held my bike ok. Cheap and cheerful but does the job of holding the bike up and tall enough for my 6'5" frame to comfortably work on a bike. I forgot to clamp the bike properly once and only found out after finishing the work. Guess i found my bike's pivot point by accident.

The Lidl one looks the same except blue instead of red plastic. I doubt they'll last long but at £25 cheap enough to throw away in a year or two.

Watch for the bolts, not much length and i managed to lose a few nuts when adjusting the stand.

Second/third the grip problem on the lidl ones.
It can't hold the xc mtb with a pannier rack fitted horizontal when holding using the seat post, kept slowly spinning around.
Fitted a inner tube to increase grip and it held better but still slipped slightly, then i pulled the nut through the plastic and ive not been able to fix it yet.

For £25 for a replacement, I'll not bother to fix the old one...

Re the leg spread, yes, fully spread out, it's huge, but stable, i don't normally have it fully deployed.
