Ah - Powershift and Ultrashift. I hadn't spotted that difference. I did wonder why the thread was getting excited when a pair of brand new Veloce shifters can be had for £77.
Never be tempted to race against a Barclays Cycle Hire bike. If you do, there are only two outcomes. Of these, by far the better is that you now have the scalp of a Boris Bike.

I had the 4xx which was a similar touch screen I think (as did several friends) and it was terrible. I gave mine away as an emergency watch to another friend whose regular Garmin had failed. I think I'd do my research on the 610 on the Garmin forums before committing even £65 (as cheap as that seems)

Superstar "Sonic Shift Rings" are clearly rebranded BOR and probably worth the 45 quid they'd go for with the current discount code, if you can find another tenner worth of stuff to buy there.

Ive got one of these I use for running and have only one complaint about it and that is the charging mechanisim. Its done through two metal pins and a magnetic cradle. Mine started not picking up a charge unless I put pressure on the cradle even after cleaning the sweat and crap off the pins. Otherwise the tracking is just as good as my edge 510 and the touchscreen makes it easy to cycle through the data pages.

I've got a 610 too. As said above, the charging system is not brilliant and needs pretty careful lining up to ensure it will keep charging.

Well worth 65 quid though. This was the top end running watch not too long ago. It's got loads of features which are really useful (virtual partner is superb for pacing a run).

If you can live without Bluetooth connectivity then still worth getting.

My only requirement is that any bag I uses has to be lightweight, and allow my back to breath. I won't be using it in the dark or wet, so no need for reflectives or for it to be especially waterproof. Doesn't need to be that big, as I'll be bringing my full kit in on a Monday on my Carradice equipped bike. Just needs to be able to carry a shirt, pump, and a few tools.

Much as I love my Alpkit Gourdon 20l, it's actually a bit too big in the summer months. So, as I was after a Decathlon chain whip (reminded by this thread) I thought I'd get a one of these for the princely sum of £2.49.

My son has that backpack for his cross-country kit, seems to do the job. That ultra compact one looks super useful, might have to get one in the Katusha colours.

Those bags are amazingly priced. Can't imagine they are particularly breathable, but for emergencies should be perfect.

I've got one of each of those Decathlon bags. I have a few uses for the ultra-compact one, I put it in my back pocket when I'm wearing a rain jacket and if the rain stops mid-ride, I put it in the rucksack. Also dead handy on holiday, walking around in the village we stay in and have effectively a bag-for-life to carry stuff back to the accomodation again.

    Well worth the money.

Ooh - the rain jacket idea makes sense - never thought of that. They are great to keep in the car, at work, anywhere really, so that if you suddenly want to carry something you can. At work especially - in the summer when I cycle without panniers etc, if something is delivered to the office and I want to take it home before I am likely to drive to work then I can, and bringing the bag back to work is easy, in back pocket.
