What kind of temps are these good for?

    Is that accurate?

Seems a good price. Anyone know how well they compare to Sorpassos?

In theory, small parts of construction aside, they should be near enough indentical. They even use the 'same' two fabric hollowcore approach.

That's good to know BTR, I nabbed my Sorpassos for £54 last year, so won't bother trying these.
And they have yellow on them!

I have the R&D bib tights, and a Thermosuit with Sorpasso bottoms. Whilst not exactly a like for like comparison, performance wise I'd say pretty identical, as is the type of material used on the thigh panels, etc. Love the straps on the R&Ds too, and the chamois is ace. I am tempted, but don't need another pair....

Good for freezing and below. No windproofing to speak of but doesn't seem to matter too much.

Judging from the pictures of the Sorpassos turned inside out on Bender's site I would guess the construction and materials are virtually identical.

Thanks guys. Ordered. Needed some tights to replace the Sorpassos I ripped in January when falling on ice.

PS. Whilst I remember - anyone still waiting for their chapeau order?

Bugger, I went for Sorpassos at £84 a while ago. Mind you, I've been enjoying them so far; went for the reflective ones and I look like something out of Tron in the headlights.

    Can't really justify any more....

It's shorts weather in Cambridge at the moment! Can't stuff any more clothing in the drawer and I honestly don't need 4 pairs of bibtights!

My Chapeau winter gloves turned up yesterday, in fairness only about 3 or 4 working days after I ordered. Out of the small and medium sizes I'm keeping the small. Mediums were slightly too long in the fingers but not by much. Seem great quality and like the double cuff. Great for 9 quid. Free returns as well for the pair that are slightly too big!

I bought the same ones on a tip from a friend. Printed out the measuring thing, ummed and aahed about small or medium, went for medium ... and they're really tight to the extent that I'm thinking about sending back.

Once they get wet on a ride there is no way they would go back on.

Anyone know if they stretch a little with usage?
Never be tempted to race against a Barclays Cycle Hire bike. If you do, there are only two outcomes. Of these, by far the better is that you now have the scalp of a Boris Bike.

I went with the small gloves (based on the measurements). They're just the right length in the fingers but the cuff is really tight and difficult to get on/off over the widest part of my palm. I'm hoping they'll stretch a bit as I wear them but they're so warm they'll sit in a draw until next winter now!

I don't ride more than 3 times a week, so 3 pairs of bib tights is plenty!

I wore the Chapeau gloves for the first time on Tues night riding home having dropped car off at garage. At first I thought I'd gone for too small a size and there seemed to be too much stiff material between thumb and index finger, but after 20 miles they felt fine so I'm sure they've stretched a bit

I know it's not a 'bargain' bargain but the spec looks amazing for the price, Di2, disks etc.

Don't suppose anyone has actually got one and can say whether it's good or bad?

Thankfully the price on that has gone back up to £2999 as I'd found that you could get a further 10% off with BC membership so I was going to go and look at one tomorrow.
The price increase makes it a bit less of a bargain so it'll save me from getting a telling off from the wife

They will be very different tights - if the R&D are like the Sorpasso then they arent waterproof or water resistant at all. They focus on keeping you warm while wet if its raining, and on breathability.

The nanoflex pro arent even just nanoflex, they have double nanoflex layer on some parts! They will be alot less stretchy and possible a bit sweaty unless its really cold. They do have the Progetto pad as opposed to the lesser KISS pad that comes on alot of nanoflex stuff. This is the best pad in the business (in my opinion) and will be similar to that on the Sportful.

So you have a choice there of:

    a) really warm and really comfy, get wet but stay warm

    or

    b) really dry and maybe less comfy unless the fit is perfect due to the less stretchy material The nanoflex pro are probably as warm as or maybe even warmer than the R&D - they might be a bit too warm if its not cold though.

The answer though, is to try both - and send back the one you dont like using Wiggle's excellent returns

True, trying both is the best choice.

I've got sorpasso 3/4 but I'm not sure if they'd be warm enough in longer for very cold.
I use howies unpadded over bib shorts at the moment, but the wind cuts through them below 5degrees and they soak up water like a sponge! Hence why I was looking at the nanoflex.

On another note Sorpasso's also £73 with discount code

Thats the funny thing about Sorpasso's - I can still ride them now and my back just starts to get a little sweaty but my legs are still fine, but equally I have ridden them in minus temps with freezing fog and constant drizzle and was equally toasty. They really are surprising - you wouldnt expect them to go that cold until you try. I think the Sportful R&D are more or less the same as Sorpasso but are currently cheaper so a great buy BUT if you wouldnt be warm enough in Sorpasso's then the R&D arent any better as far as I can tell. In which case the nanoflex pro might be a better bet, or even the windstopper version of the Sorpasso's.

Sorpasso remove the need to consider wind proof tights. I've worn mine at -5 and not felt anything cold. If you did 100 miles in the wet and cold then eventually you'd feel something (or feel nothing) but that goes for most stuff. They're magical.

Now that things are getting lighter, I've noticed that my bicycle helmet is beginning to look quite the worse for wear. I'm therefore considering getting a new one. What's the current consensus on what low budget one to get? Is the Giro Foray any good? https://www.sigmasport.co.uk/item/Giro/ ... -2016/EYTM

I got this deal recently after my head had an altercation with the tarmac and wrote off the old one. It's great as far as I'm concerned. Feels light, comfy and good airflow.
