Lazy bugger. You could get, what, 2-3 runs in on the DH over the day if you ride up.

As for me, if I'm riding, I'll need to borrow a seatpost and will be on the HT so it'll be even slower down hills than normal. Well, thats assuming the Trance goes tonight, if not, I might just get it dirty.

Lazy bugger. No more excuses. Will have a 27.2 post in the boot. Even has a saddle on it so you don't hurt your delicate bits.

  • Might be there Sunday but probably later than 10 as my mates have a phobia of early rides, may see you all out and about.
    Santa Cruz Nomad.
  • no show from me this sunday, working but if anyone is free for a wednesday ride next week i'm game. If not more than likely be along sunday week.
  • Walking Bottom it is then . See you 10am Sunday ! 8)
  • Hi all, what sort of ride is it tomorrow, distance, trail type? Could we join you? Where is the meet point?

    Cheers,

The type of ride is generally "whatever". There's often no plan, just muck about on various trails, probably state that we're only going to be out for a couple of hours and then 6 hours later we'll have covered most of the hills. Though lengthy stops & chats, and the inevitable lunch break at the Peaslake village shop.

Anyway, the trails are mostly singletrack. Some more gnarly bits occasionally, but it's all optional. There's climbing involved to get to the top of any one of the hills, but it's not relentless tedious stuff (unlike what I did on Tuesday in Wales!).

    It's general Sunday Warrior stuff.

Meeting is Walking Bottom car park. It's just round the corner from the village shop in Peaslake. From the village, head past the bike shop and the church and it's on your left. Fairly big car park.

Anyway, I'm up for it tomorrow, though that seems to have been assumed anyway :D

Meet point is here, from the centre of Peaslake go past the bike shop and there will be a parking lot on the left.

Distances are not really measured, but probably between 15-25 miles over 5-7 hours, and trails are anything from fast flowy BKB type stuff, up to Wedgy style downhillish type trails.

None of it is serious, we go at the pace of the slowest rider and spent most of the time standing around anyway

As far as I can tell from who's coming its going to be a relatively easy ride.

  • Right that's brilliant count us in it'll definitely be 2 of us maybe 3. Coming up from the south coast, we're park in that car park then and see you there at 10am.

    Hi Shaun

    It's at the arrow here.

    http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&sourc ... 54932&z=15

Doubt it will be that long tomorrow. Probably max 5 hours with about 4 hours rest as it's getting dark quite early.
No set route though so if you want to be anywhere at a specific time we can ride accordingly.

I've pm'd you my number which might make it easier when you get there, but look out for a red Honda - DK, an elderly bluey green BMW - me, and if Supraman is coming in his car - a blue BMW coupe with a very flashy bike.

Bring the post along if you don't mind. I have to get back at a reasonable time anyway but will be out for the first part at least.

And mysteriously, the weather turns bad and only 4 of us are riding ;)

Missed a good one though, muddy but entertaining and the trail off the back of winterfold hill was worth the rain itself.

Don't know what that trail was, but I'll call it Wedgie 2.
  • Great fun today , most fun I've had in SH ! Guess I was lucky with tyre choice .

@DK - hope you can find Wedgie 2 again .

Also check your brake pads gents ; I started with two new sets today . The £7.99 Clarks are just about shot & the £17.99 Aztecs ( sintered ) are a good third to half gone.

Don't even remember braking that much today - mud did most of our braking for us !

@Cooldad - was Wedgie 2 that one we found with Richard last week?

Not sure - we did the switchback down near the drop off where you all stacked it, but also did another bit but we were lost quite a lot. Awesome slimy slippery bit though.

Like the other Wedgie but off Winterfold instead. Maybe not so insane, but in these conditions it was a bit crazy.

I'm sure DK can find it next weekend though.

@shaunlfc1 - pity you missed a good one. Thanks for the text though. I overslept and it woke me up. Didn't have time for the sausages and eggs I had planned though - cereal again.
While I was rushing there (late) got text from Atz that he was running late and 4 from DK that he was also late - think he must have sat on his phone or something.
Stan, bright eyed and bushy tailed looked quite relieved when we got there.
And supraman + apprentice seem to have vanished off the face of the Earth. Probably didn't want to get the bling bike muddy.

    Hi,
I am planning to pass a few hours riding Swinley Forest (and the MOD part as the trails are somewhat less muddy around those parts) on Thursday Nov 18th
My thinking at this time (but I am open to suggestion if someone want to join) is to start from go Ape around 16:30-17:00 to go for some trail riding via the MOD site and the dear stalker/labyrinth when heading back to the bottom of Surrey hills (about 20 km route).
Could meet wanna be night riders there about 18:30/18:45 from there we could ride Surrey hill up, bit of fun back down to the Goulet then head toward the corkscrew via the Seagull trail (both way) and then head back to the car back via single trails (about 15 km route)

Let me know if you want to join me and my mad Dalmatian for either part or the whole of this mix day/night ride

We should be back to the car park for about 2030-2100 unless we get more lost that I usually do ;-)

So who's up for this Sunday?

Looks like it's gonna be a damp one but better than Saturday.

Jesus, you're keen. Give me a chance to get the wet gear out of the car before thinking about next week please.

Needn't even ask with me. Only issue is whether I take the bike out of the car and clean it before loading it back in the car. It's still in there - mud and all!
