Mine was a pretty bad break - the broken pieces of bone were off-ended (pretty much at right angles to where they should have been) so it needed a very long time to heal as the bone ends had to find each other again before they could knit
It took me just over 3 months before they would let me ride again and another 6 months before the pain had completely gone. The specialist I spoke to reckoned this was the longest healing time anyone would need for that type of break so maybe that gives a rough guide as to when you'll be able to get out again.0 -

Please can you all look at the following and please vote for the leith hill project plus get all of your mates involved, for a change i really do not care where you put this on the web !!!
You need to zoom in on the map to the mark near Cranleigh to find the project
MTB Project looking for your votes.
Etherly Farm is a MTB friendly campsite at the foot of Leith Hill. The National Trust are bidding for a grant through the 'Bovril Outdoor revival' scheme to help build a dedicated skills trail on site. The grant will be part of a wider MTB initiative at the site which will include a new 1.5 mile single-track descent to the site from Leith hill, showers, bike washes and many of the other facilities that are not on offer within the Surrey Hills. Back the bid (and the NT's progressive attitude to MTB) by registering your vote for 'Leith Hill' at the Bovril Outdoor Revival site. Spread the word through your social networking sites, twitter etc and help get this project of off the ground.

It's been about 2.5 months for me and it wasn't too bad a break I was told. Got pretty much full movement back and strength returns everyday just hoping for the all clear come 3 week today, so it could mean i'm back out first weekend in dec0 -

hey guys,
anyone out sat morning?0 -
+1 on the voting and apologies for my non-appearance last Sunday. Was really looking forward to it but got led astray by old friends the night before, massively overslept and awoke with a seriously chastising headache.
Definitely out this weekend, have even slapped a minion on the back of the bike to improve "handling issues"0 -

Hi everyone...I would love to join, but a busy week. However a work trip has me driving to Pembroke on Tuesday and driving back on Wednesday. I am day dreaming about a stop on the way back for a quickie.
Hope I can join in on the next trip.
BTW has anyone ridden the Twrch trail in Cwncarn? I am curious about the tail grade (red) as I have never used a graded trail before. Any comments on difficulty?Specialized Camber0 -
It's a good route, not that long though, an hour or so. When I lived in Bristol I used to go once a week or so and do a couple of laps, I wouldn't drive hours solely to do it. Well worth a stop if you're passing though. It's a long climb, then a lot of descending, fast, slightly loose.
IMO if you ride the normal trails on the Surrey Hills there's nothing any harder.0 -
But climb on Twrch is epic, obviously as Njee mentioned descent is nice and flowy. Don't miss out on -Airstream- trail section on top of the hill ! Once you cleared climb there are 2 options to take, 1 trail is nice and flowy and other -Airstream- is littered with table tops and berms ! Then once finished that trail, turn right back, there is a short climb on fireroad all the way back on top, REPEAT!What could have been (Video)

You up for a ride in the surrey hills sunday instead ??
I think the Twrch is OK and IMO one of my least favorite trail centre XC courses, not that it is bad i just prefer other things. As Njee said its worth stopping if you are there.
Although if you can get on the uplift and do the Downhill course that is much more fun !!!Santa Cruz Nomad.0 -
