Mehh, didn't like boggy Swinley at all. Had to bloody wash bike proper after all sand. Think SF is for HT singlespeeders or in Cooldads case rigid.

Anyone interested to join in BigBikeBash ? Thought it was a time to have some fun n beers, at least thats what my wife says.

Meh. It was muddy and bike needs a good wash (it'll probably stay muddy in the car for a week though :D), but it's still fairly dry compared to how bad Swinley can get.

Sorry for not posting sooner. Had an impromptu night out last night, car was 20 miles from home and had to get 2 buses to get it back so by the time I got back this morning it was basically lunchtime. Given the rain here and the reports from above, glad I didn't do what I was planning, which was to ride to my car at 7am and then head up to meet you :)

Sounds like fun but definately can't make it

Really enjoyed the ride today, didn't find any bogs and had plenty of grip for once, and the mud hosed straight off :D

Also rode a £6.5k bike

Also worked out it would take me 25 years to save up for one at my current income

Good ride today, thanks guys( and Jo)
Good to meet you all. I think considering the forecast and the rain on the way home, we did well to avoid most of it!

@Popstar. Boggy? You big girls blouse. Popstar's problem is he thinks he's made of carbon fibre and will dissolve if he gets wet. Someone should tell him he's really made of blancmange.

I kind of enjoy the mud, makes for a soft landing, as I found out today.

Also fun riding through the middle of all the big puddles.

Anyway better get used to it again, or put the bike away until next 'summer'. It's all downhill from here.

Good ride, even if our gentle few hours turned into a mini epic.

BBB sounds like fun, but thel33ter can only escape for a bit on Saturday, and he'd probably be a tad peeved if I went without him, so we'll probably join Richard's epic in SH.

Anyway, I can't decide what price I should pay!

    Child: 12 - 14 Years £20.00
    Child: 15 - 17 Years £20.00
    Adult: 18 - 34 Years £40.00
    Adult: 35+ Years £40.00

Someone had a few too many when they thought of that pricing structure.

Well I've been working for well over 25 years, and still can't afford one, so if you are to have any hope, don't have kids - vvv expensive.
    Not a bad bike though.

Cooldad , entrance for Thel33ter is £20. I am not planning to race therefore would qualify as visitor £10. It seems from T&C you need to get a racing participant ( Thel33ter )* and that racer will have a largish family to support him, aka us! I am happy to contribute £10 towards the entry of racer. Correct me if I am wrong. I just can't see Cooldad dressed up in lycras at the start line. Dis wrong!

Richards ride is tempting affair too, need to build up some fitness for that.

Hmm, I'll need to do some major convincing, the word race might help, if it OK with Cooldad, and if the races I would do are on the Saturday.

Or we could all pretend to be under 12, only 1p each.
Problem is not the money, thel33ter is with his mom for the rest of the month, and can only get out for a while on Saturday. Not long enough for a camping trip unfortunately.

I have had an awesome weeks riding !!!!

Thursday at Afan was superb, good weather and good trails.
We did Whites which is without a doubt the best trail there.
We also did the Skyline July trail, which if you have not done is great and has my favorite bit of singletrack in wales which are the last 3 sections, these rock and go on and on . For me they are better than anything on whites. Plus the black run on each up.

only bad thing was my insanely fit mate Roger who decided to show me up big time on the ups , he ended up waiting for me after the main ascent for 2 mins both times!!!
Not that bad but then you realise he was riding his 7 inch trek scratch !!!! about 35Lb's worth of bike.....he then proceeded to nail all of the downs and leave me spitting dust!
Add that to the fact that he is off to canada for 2 weeks in Sept and he really is a Git !!!! :D

I then did a whole day ride on friday around the SH which was really good , even if i was a bit leggy.

Plan for 21st is meet at Coldharbour for 09.30 then hit leith holmbury and maybe pitch and then back again.

    Whos in ?

ashame you cant understand french but in brief. It shows the zestys potentiel.

160mm forks are no worries on it and then you get same geometry as the spicy, but with a lighter bike so faster to pedal accelerate, and if you really want to Hunt DH bikes ( on some tracks). Nico puts special alu spacers in between head tube and fork.
He is says the lighter bike makes it less of a work out easier to pump and jump.
tuned up fox float, talas is usless.
12.5kg with DH tires. You change rocker link and shock size and you can get 160.

you see you dont need a spicy. Only skills and you are the king of the mountain.

Now there's an idea! :D. Strangely though I can't do "work from home" as a contractor @ Nokia and yet if I was an employee I could. Odd considering contractors are exactly the sort of people you can just give a piece of work to and they go off and do it, and they shouldn't really care whether you're in the office. Maybe they don't like the idea of paying for hours when I may be going down a hill on the bike instead :D.

Anyway, enough parking round by the pub in Coldharbour? Guess could park nearby or even at the cross road bit and cycle to the pub (mmm, cycling to the pub sounds like a good activity).

Bungalistic suggested the Plough Inn, which is a different pub

    We should probably decide.
