Looks like we've got a late 5pm ride planned for Leith/Redlands, if anyone's interested. Meeting at the Youth Hostel.

Jedi, the plan of video is well made. Would like to see it in real lfie. Skilled like that, is a perfect CV to work in circus :D . Wow. Guess it takes so much of effort to keep up and maintain that place. That shore is a dream come true for ATZ, while other riders would be just scared of that -Rad. Oops , spoke out too soon.

Cool, sounds like a fun time. Seems Wales claims victims every time, whether it's people or bikes :D.

Would like to check out The Wall.

And rain and Wales... goes with the territory :D

The Wall was awesome, was just getting it together when I had a pinch flat. Sods law, my pump wouldn't work, took it to bits and got enough air in to make it to the bottom. Thel33ter thought I must have crashed, looked a bit disappointed when I appeared.

Whites was a bit much for my hardtail and soft body, Enjoyed bits, but already shagged after the climb, then he made me do the black bit, which scared the life out of me, and meant another climb to get back to the top. By the time I got to Darkside I just wanted it to end. Too rocky

Gorlech was my favourite. Amazing climbs, and fairly smooth trail. Swoopy and filled with berms that just got bigger and bigger. Pity about Thel33ter's wheel, but at least it happened at the bottom.

Pity we missed Cwmcarn, but was chucking it down, and by the time we got the gear packed in the car, everything was soggy, and getting late.

Campsite was an experience. Pretty basic - hot showers etc in the main bit, but we were in the woods, which meant a longish walk up a steep muddy hill to get to civilsation.
Very quiet and secluded though, and you can make fires, so real men only.
Highly recommended for riding at Afan, clean toilets, hot shower, bikewash and storage, very friendly owners and no radios.

No, by the time you thought of 5, Popstar was on 6.

    Therefore 6. Popstar is fast!

I claim my white jersey with red polka dot, Cooldad can start knitting.

    Hello!

My name is Juha and I live in Finland. I'm going to visit London on week 37 and was hoping to get some local mountain biking action. I'll be staying in central London. So, what I'd like to know:

    - any tips on hiring a decent mountain bike? Google guides you to ActionBikes.co.uk and similar places but any other suggestions?
    - where to ride (I've been to Swinley so preferably I'd like to experience something else too)
    - anyone willing to lend a bike and show me around?

    Thanks

    br, Juha

    Hi Juha

We normally have a ride on Saturdays or Sundays and sometime both, we normally ride around Surrey Hills this is pretty much the middle of the area You're welcome to join us on any of them.

We also sometimes have rides in Swinley Forest during the week.

As for bike hire www.nirvanacycles.com has demo bikes for around £40 - Lapierre's, Cubes, Turneres and Ragley MMMbops, or they hire out a basic Giant Terrango for £40 for two days.

Surrey Hills may well be my target. Unfortunately I'll be low on available time slots and probably my only chances are Wednesday evening 19.00-> (too dark even with lights if you don't know where you're going) and then Thursday morning. But let's see how my schedule turns out to be..

BTW: searching Google with correct terms helps.. :) "Bike hire" was much better than "bike rental"

Not a Nokia guy by any chance?

Not that it's fair to stereotype all people called Juha from Finland as being employed by Nokia, but I know a lot of them! (but then I'm working for Nokia at the moment so hard to avoid). :D

Juha if my shifts allow me to join you, I most probably will. Think my wife's Hardrock will be back from France 23rd or so , which is used atm by Plaisir for road riding (converted it obviously set up wise). I am happy to lend it to you, it's a medium size though ... not sure if it will fit you. Just would need to replace OEM forks on it to Reba's I recently bought and you sir = is sorted !

Popstar, Pal you may need help ? sorry to inform you but the bike is not alive :D

Anyone up for a ride Sat 21st ? did offer while back but thought would remind , thinking of linking Leith to Holmbury and pitch. ideally in morning, for say 4 or 5 hours.

Off to Wales Thursday and the weather looks good so should be a top day.

Richard, I have been brain washed and since then went totally crazy. Trails would never be the same again. But mentally I am allright, and actually I even could join you 19th in Cwmcarn and 21st for whichever rad ride you throw.

I really need to relax and let my brains rest, anyway wednesday ride will make my brains rest for sure. Riding classics of SH with work mates, so all should be easy mode.
