Starting from Dorking, up Box Hill doing some stuff there, then over to Norbury Park for more trails, then over to Ranmore Common for yet more trails (rougher stuff and with the steep rolls in places), then at the bottom a casual ride across the country back to Dorking.

Certainly felt like 26 miles to my legs, that speed is probably a bit optimistic though . Pretty hot as well, but good fun and learnt some places that I didn't even know existed.

Thanks to Richard for the guidance.

Hope you all enjoyed the ride, redaing your posts sounds like fairly well received.
Realise the ride was a bit of a contrast in terms of the natural at the start, finishing off with the manmade techy stuff at the end.

I am next out on Sunday the 4Th and will be going pitch hill, holmbury way from Dorking probably ending with some of Leith.

    PM if your interested.

Was a really good day out, loved the natural singletrack and the techy stuff at the end was a nice way to finish (for me at least).

I'll be out sunday as usual.

Might be out Sunday. Depends if I'm on a flight to France or not.
  • Hiya everyone, having recently located from living opposite of Swinley Forest, been trying to find more local rides to where I live now. I live in Wembley, for example tomorrow I am going riding at Ruislip Lido to explore the single track out there. But looking for other nearby singletrack instead of having to drive to Berkshire everytime I want a ride.

Also very keen to meet other riders around where I live.
I still belong to my bike club BOB in Berkshire.

    thanks

You may check this out. Think this is the nearest local hill near you.

Any plans for the weekend then?

    Usual Surrey Hills?
  • I'll be giving it a miss this week. Turns out I've slipped a disc in my back so may be off the bike for a few weeks :(

Saturday-Sunday looks like a sunny day in SWales. Depends who's up for it ... -Wall- hasn't been ridden in Afan, 've heard its good.

Really need enough people to share costs & cars etc.

and I need to do some bike repairs, which I'm planning on Saturday.

Wales is a possibility but I need to see how my fingers and and rear hub are doing. Have still got bruised fingers so can't grip the handlebar properly yet and the hub's axle's developed a wobble. Hopefully the bruising will go down and I'm stripping the hub on Saturday to hopefully sort it. Will keep you posted

Can't do Wales as I have a big night out Saturday and won't be in the mood for an early start on Sunday :)

Prob doing SH or Swinley tomorrow AM if anyone is up for it. Also DK, I still owe you the remainder of the last Wales trip.

Hoping to do bike repair amongst other domestic things tomorrow. I might be able to get out later in the afternoon, but otherwise it will be Sunday for me.

If not SWales (not sure I'm up for a 3 hour drive each way this weekend), SH as usual probably Sunday.

Though if the majority are going Saturday, I'll forgo the maintenance and go out Sat.

Interested in exploring more of Leith. I'm thinking there may be stuff to the left of the jump area you initially get to when crossing the road to climb up to the tower. Going down the road to the left, down the hill it looks like there's potential stuff in the woods.

Sort out the money next time we meet anyway, or next Wales trip or wherever. Wasn't much from what I recall.

Well I might go see how Swinley has changed as it's somewhere I've not been for a few months. But that'll be tomorrow.

Richard showed me some awesome trails there, but I wouldn't remember them now. Redlands only 's been memorised.

Same with what Richard showed us around Box and Ranmore. Already forgotten it. Aside from the scary roll-offs, but finding them again would be tricky.

Seems as if SWales wouldn't happen, too few people interested. I would vote to go with Rich (Pitch-Holmbury) or either selection of Leith-Redlands or Box-Ranmore?

Redlands I may link up many trails, and half of old Leith hill trails ... the rest of aggresive XC I just don't know. DKenny, you surely used your tracker?

Had a small run in with the bonnet of a car today on the way home on my roadie, lucky I'm good at bouncing after all the rides I've had with you guys

It was their fault and hopefully I can get some new forks and stuff with insurance claim

Fuffff, hope you are ok. Come back to MTB only if you are fit enough, second day after those crashes is the worst one. Seems as if -Darkside has it's own dark corners, be carefull and recover well.

Hope to see Greg on trails, the guy dissapeared from the scene? Would love to see Greg -Rich-Thel33ter climbing hills. This time my monies would be on Greg, but if it's downhill ... bungalistic with rich would be the raddest* or let's say the skillz-iest* !

Fine, dented the bonnet with my knee and broke their headlight, personally I think it improved the duckling yellow hyundai, made it more likely to be crushed

But can't wait to get back on a bike tommorow.

I can hold most people on the hills, maybe not racey snakey types on Ti bikes though :D

Er yeah and fancy carbon forks snapped clean off at the steerer. Scary I'll stick to metal.

Was a really ugly car though.
Woman got carted off in an ambulance suffering from 'shock'.
    What bullshit.
The cops arrived and the idiot woman and her equally idiot family who arrived after the crash made such a scene that the cop, who was just going to let it go as no injuries, got so pissed off with them he decided to charge her with crappy driving or something.

    Hopefully she's well insured.

Hi Popstar, I'm still around and wouldn't mind joining you guys again for another ride, though I fear you lot might be getting a bit too *rad for me :P Had the day off today and managed to get in a couple of hours on Pitch & Holmbury, which was good.

thel33ter- hope you're okay after your encounter with the car and don't worry, I'm long way off being a racey snakey type on a Ti bike

Wow - thel33ter! Sounds like you're lucky to have no injury, but then you seem to come off well with the tumbles with us :D

Anyone up for tomorrow @ SH? Don't really mind what time, early or late.

Or maybe somewhere else for a change?

Bleeding brakes today, so hopefully will have better stopping power. Probably means I'll go straight over the bars instead.
