Yep. Good ride and not too many on the trails either. I feel like a sleep now but I don't really have the time0

Atm being a keyboard warrior, trying to arrange some skills courses. Went straight for the bestest guy can't confirm availability dates yet, but prisewise it's £75 per person and need at least 3-4 into a group for that. If any rider seriously wants to improve his skill and confidence ... think carefully if you are prepared to pay that price, but I say ... -better pay top dollar and get result, instead of trying to copy someone how to ride.
Requested Saturday-Sunday as prefferable days for skillz training, raise your hands who up for it.
As soon as I get availability dates from Jedi, will update you to decide on a date. What could have been (Video)
I'll choose not put too much stake into someone's opinion who is admittingly terrible though0 -
17th and 31st of July suggested dates for skills course. We could get as many riders as wanted. What could have been (Video)

First date i'll be a long way away. Btw where are you proposing for thesein terms of location?[/code]0
-
Sounds good, but need to be sure I'm going to get something out of it for that money.
Would we all be the same level and what stuff would they cover?
I have less confidence on those drops and roll-ins, and jumps I'd like to have some instruction on, though I'm not intending to be a jump expert, just able to do some small ones safely. Other than that, just find out what I'm doing right and wrong generally. Maybe techniques on technical climbs. Also find keeping a straight line over narrow bridges and the like tricky.0 -
Here some feedback from forumites 1, 2, couldn't bother of searching more topics but guess you get idea. Pricey (75-60) compared to allbikedup* , but think it's worth it, as the latter looks a bit over corporate. What could have been (Video)

As he says his clients include "regular weekend warriors", I think that covers us0
-
Well, we are very fine weekend warriors nevertheless.
For now it looks me and Dkenny up for course? Is there any other volunteers to loose £75 in return for skillz ... raise your hands people. What could have been (Video)

I'm up for it, but the dates are a bit of an issue. I don't think my back will be fixed in time for the 17th and I've got plans for the 31st that I can't move. If we could do something in August I'd definitely be in......0
-
Im up for skills.
but if we go as a group do we have to choose a group level? or how is it organised?
as we may not have same things to work on or expectations.
which level were you thinking of?specialized enduro 06 gone snif

Fighting a cold right now, but determined to get on the bike regardless. May be up for an evening session some time this week. Though interested in exploring more of Tunnel Hill (there's some stuff I want to explore further around there), and also Caesars Camp near Fleet/Aldershot that I keep going on about (it's right out the back of work damnit, so I really should try it out! ).
Other than that, this weekend is free.

It seems to have found its own way back in, but the muscles are still in spasm. I've been given a heady cocktail of anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxants and pain killers and the doc assures me it should be alright within the next 7-10 days if I keep taking the drugs.
If it all works out well I could be back on the bike next Sunday, but I wouldn't want to commit to paying for a skills course unless I could be 100% sure I'll be match fit in time.0 -
It looks as if 31st is more suitable, ... Supraman there are no official grade system to work on, but it looks it will start from basic skills aka pumping-Reading trail, then move off to something more of aggresive XC, check those links in other post will give you roughly an idea what is waiting for you. Not sure how others preffer, but from previous talks we better off to travel to Jedi's turf, as the man's got certain playfields intended for courses. I wouldn't want to learn drop offs at BKB though, give me and DKenny northshore 6ft gap jumps!
On serious note, the man is qualified and approved UK instructor so wouldn't see him pushing FFK off the cliff and saying -deal with it baby? What could have been (Video)

hi all i live in london and been trying to find some places to ride around on my hardtail ect and pretty limited atm.
so far the best places i found are:
hoddesdon/broxbourne/wormly woods area, can get a good ride around XC wise.
epping forest
then potting around forty hall/whitewebbs/hilly fields areas.
any one live around area can give some good routes or info? i useally around EN1 and EN11(enfield and hoddesdon)London2Brighton Challange 100k!

its hard to tell without showing it but if you know your way around there's loads of beautiful single track in Epping forest. good for a couple of hours of riding. If you want you can ride along (we usually ride sunday morning)0 -
I'm still looking for stuff to ride in the north east area myself, been to epping a few times now and found some short little bits locals have built, not found much else though0

every time i go epping it pretty impossible to find a decent loop, you tend to just ride around looking for stuff to ride then relise you spent around 2 hours or more "looking" for a decent ride.
maps arent much use as you stated as epping pretty much doesnt have a single marked track, so guess it helps to have a guideLondon2Brighton Challange 100k!

Bungalistic, you didn't try -Essex group ride yet? Thought you lot who live in NorthEast London knew Epping forest like back of your hand. Shame. What could have been (Video)

pics were taken with my phone this year as i didnt want to break my camera. A crash in rocks happens fast.
This year the snow was crap. all melted and deep. apart for the very first guys it was miles of running in snow till you hit the rocky single track. By that time you ve lost half your energy.
The qualifier i found hard last year became easy . even though i broke the low speed compression on my fork... so it became like a rigide ride very shacky.
My mate clipped a root in the forest and ripped rear caliper off. They repaired with a german guy and of he went again.
Fitness was good I didnt stop in any climb except a really tough one in forest , my bike being on the heavier side compared to many... So our sunday rides are good for training.
I met Danny hart many times, saw him ride. He makes every thing look so easy. i was in same tele cabine as Sam belkinsop, and another time with Nicolas Voulloz rene wildhaber and Absalon, really nice guys giving advice , really not stressed, they really are in an other world.
To be honest my mate and I spent more time exploring all the different trails around the place than training for the race. Plus my mate would have needed to be able to wake up early. To not be put at the back of the pack on qualifier.
Its a fab event to take part in even if you aren't going to win. The extra speed technical challenges, every thing is bigger and faster, and really boosts your riding.
Even XC is harder more technical long climbs, jumps, bumby pedaling sections.
I saw all kinds of bikes from XC hard tails through to long travel hard tails, 140 trail bikes to full DH bikes
Lots of girls riding this year and yery fast..
Now Ill work on good vids and with this conection, can send out HD vids.specialized enduro 06 gone snif

Tomorrow maybe, though weather doesn't sound so good.
Really should get some lights, especially as the nights are only getting shorter now
