I'm moving down to Ruislip on monday and need some new places/people to ride with.

Is anyone based around here? I do anything from xc to downhill (i used to race downhill). Where are the best places to ride etc.

Also was considering joining the west drayton mtb club. Does anyone have any experience of them/what there like?

I could be doing the west drayton guys a disservice but when I asked about joining they said I was welcome to come along on a ride and they'd see if they wanted me to join (which is nice) and someone else told me they have been known to drop people on rides which seems a bit crappy if you're along to get to know them on a social ride and don't know where you are.

As I said though, I could be doing them a disservice.

Not quite Ruislip but I live in Ealing, as do at least a couple of others who can be found on these London Calling rides sometimes. Swinley's within easy reach by car, Surrey Hills not a lot further. Also some XC stuff (bit boring though from what I've seen) in the Chilterns, and Aston Hill up towards Aylesbury so probably within an hour's motor. Not sure if there's anything you can just ride to without a drive, would be interested to know if there's good stuff.

    nice one, sounds good.

Yes, i'm not sure about joining a specific cycling club, I have done before and often they can be rather anal. Basically i'm just after some people to ride with - I'll have to get involved with some of these rides if that's ok?

Also I've got a car so driving isn't an issue, I suppose it's sort of expected. I'll join the FB group when I get a chance and sort something out.

More than welcome. Only rule is you have to give me your credit card details as proof of age.
Seeing as it's a long weekend, and I'm already confused, so far:
Friday - either join a longish sounding MTBB one or the piory is free. Anyone else.
    Saturday - ?
Sunday - Aston or more likely SH - me, benpinnick, BDJ, DK, milko9000 so far.
Monday - Aston if it's dry - BDJ

Nothing specific on LC or Swinley facebook sites yet.

Bigger than surrey, considerably smaller than the alps but the Eifel and Vosges aren't far away either.

Ha, I'm from North Wales too. The infamous Rhyl, to be precise. I bet I've suddenly got less friends on here now I admit that. It's a small old world, and whatnot.

Shut up and do what you're told.
SH ride tomorrow at 11 - supraman and a few others.
SH Sunday at some time to be arranged - me, DK, benpinnick and...?

Looks like something being arranged for Aston Hill on Monday.

Sunday should be up for it. Monday Aston will see. Despite everything seeming like summer round here, Metcheck says rain for Aston for the next few days http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/tod ... e=hp22+5nq

Met Office seems to show less rain, but does have a bit of heavy rain Monday. Hmm.

Having learnt the hard way, there's no way I'm going there unless it's bone dry.

Don't care about Monday - my plan is a lie in, large amounts of bacon, and a laze - loads of sh1t recorded and a bit of BR trolling.

I agree about Aston on Monday, not going unless it's dry. Do want to ride though.

10.30 it is. Walking Bottom is fine unless someone feels like a change.

It sounds as it develops into a bigger crowd in WLondon. You all have failed to mention BMX track in Hillingdon, which no one of you ride ... obviously. Very dissappointed with you lot, hope you still have fire in you.

This is the closest riding venue nearest to Ruislip. WLondon boyz shame on you for not knowing it.

2 riders from Rhyl, you people have casted great mysteries on our last adventure in NWales. All those who went to NWales last time are still dazed by mysteries. Hope to meet you sometime, as thou shall answer in-direct to solve that puzzle we encountered.

so I use it as a bridge to the promised land of Real Man. Once I can get down SH's steeper trails ... , I'll be up for more DH business. It's getting closer

What what  ? You come from MOR CYB heavens, you absolutely must introduce yourself to Popstar. You are considered to be of fittest stock, I mean you have mountains down there and amazing stuff to ride. An absolute MUST ride with buddie!

NWelsh folk, I mean the ones I've met there, don't talk too much but boy can they climb.
I hate fit people overtake me on climbs. They're basterwards, bet I'm bad on descends too since my choccie days.

Will have to do a north Wales trip again soon anyway. You need to get out more though else you'll be walking those climbs! :P

Join us for a 10.30 Surrey Hills session this morning?

Bit of dampness today, should be good as it's all a bit too loose at the moment.
