Don't think we'll make it. Thel33ter looks horrible. I know that's normal but he's not feeling well. See how he feels tomorrrow

    Sednan,
If you're goiing you need to get to here: http://g.co/maps/by2uc by 11 (well 11:20 as DK is going). Its 2.5miles from Gomshall train station, so i suggest you need to get to Gomshall no later than 10:45. 10:30 is probably better.

Unfortunately I overslept and failed to get there anyway! Now watching the grand prix.

Looks like rain might hold off this afternoon, so may be out later but not sure.

If you're there or getting there and reading this, I suggest popping into the little bike shop in Peaslake and asking for some pointers to the trails. There will be loads of people there anyway you can ask and maybe even hook up with.

Early planning to try again (and for eug2huge :D) - Sunday (25th) - Surrey Hills. Suggest the usual Walking Bottom car park at Peaslake, or can go from Leith for a change. Whatever time suits.

In the mean time, in between things I'll be getting some rides in this week. It's looking nice this afternoon in fact, hmm.
  • How about Saturday? Any thoughts?

I can't do Saturday as there's a school ride, but OK for Sunday. Leith would make a change. Just need to cure the creak.

Bummer, Saturday's my only day this weekend. I volunteered for marshalling at the Aston Hill DH race on Sunday so looking forward to that. I might go Aston Hill on Saturday anyway if anyone's up for it? I guess it'll be busy due the race but probably mainly the black run which I intend to stay clear of.

I''m out and about Saturday but can't Sunday, working too. Think we'll be in Surrey Hills rather than Aston though. Probably!

Saturday, not sure. Think I'll give Aston a miss if there's a race on else I'll get in people's way. Maybe Swinley or Tunnel Hill if doing Surrey Hills on Sunday.

Also thinking of checking out Cannock soon though is it worth the drive up there.

Leith sounds good for Sunday, what time? you should definitely do Cannock Chase, it's really well layed out/sign posted and has a wide variety of trails. Even the uphill parts are good as they are very twisty..

Time - do you mean normal human time or DK time, which is a bit slower.

Fair enough, thinking about it I might give it a miss as well on Saturday, busy isn't good...

Just checked out Cannock, looks really cool, the DH red run looks a lot of fun. Google maps says it's 2 1/2 hrs from me which I could definitely handle seeing as the weather is supposed to be lovely this weekend. If you fancy it this Sat then I'm up for it? Any other people interested?

Anyone got a post code to meet at Leith on Sunday please. 10.30 any good?

High Ashes is probably a good place to meet for Leith (I know some like a Westcott start. Can do, but the climb is a killer and the locals hate us ;) ).

    Digging this out...

From there, not too bad to climb to Leith, mess about there, maybe later consider going down and up to Holmbury and Peaslake. Just ends on a climb back to High Ashes though. Or reverse, go Holmbury way, come back to Leith, do all that and end at High Ashes.

There's a reasonable size car park there, watch out for the low barrier if you've got a roof rack!, but there is a small spot along the road also to avoid that.

Wescott is a b1tch for parking, and a pain to get to Leith, but a great ride back down again. So fine with me.

If someone is nice enough to pick me up at dorking station then I'm all happy with the bottom car park
  • Does anyone know anything about Rogate? Reckon I'm going to head there Saturday as it looks pretty fun and it's not so far. Just wondering on the run names and grading. Looked about online but haven't found much official. Anyone else up for a bit of this action on Sat?

Rogate, more downhill fun from what I understand. Less affected by the wet than Aston. Annual permit for Aston I think covers Rogate also.

I should check it out, just down the A3 a bit I think so not far. Sat, not sure, got some work-ish related stuff to get done and all depends if it's sorted by end of tomorrow or I get distracted and go ride the bike instead.

Only thing with downhill stuff is the chain on the Nomad is clattering a hell of a lot. Not sure if something has slackened up or it was always like that but think I need to sort a chain guide out as it's getting distracting and dents my confidence. The 456 is nice and quiet though. Hard tail DH perhaps, hmm ;)

Sunday - just need to vote on Westcott or High Ashes. Westcott is a good ending, just parking sucks as does the initial climb, but I'm okay with it if I can find somewhere to park. Maybe I'll park in Dorking!

Time - 10.30 has been suggested. - remember clocks will have gone forward.

It's going to be packed out there this weekend.

Oh, and a thought if Westcott is to go up via Ranmore through to Peaslake and then all the way from there to Leith and back to Westcott. Somewhat epic though!

I think there will be at least 3 cars with my group so Wescott is putting me off if parking is hard. I would offer a lift bit will have a full rack, sorry. I'm still cool for 10.30 start.. Did you get my text the other day Tim? Just want to make sure I have your number in case.

Yeah, got your text. High Ashes car park would be easier for parking. Not sure how busy it will be. Never seen it packed like Peaslake gets but this weekend I suspect may be different. Should be space somewhere though and there other other car parks round Leith. If it comes to it could meet up by the tower.

Could pick up arigold from Dorking if he's okay with bike in the back of the car on top of mine. It's rideable from there if you go Coldharbour Lane way, though not sure how long that takes ;). Can of course off road it there too :D
