Bit of misfortune on Winterfold today. Mtbcrazy had an over the bars moment, a bit of unconciousness, and is going to have a serious headache and probably a black eye tomorrow. Together with assorted general pain.

    Probably Swinley tomorrow - 11-12ish?

Hope it's not too big a shiner mtbcrazy. Happens to us all sometime. Might be able to make something tomorrow. Not sure what though. If I can I will, but don't wait for me.

  • Hey Cooldad well done for taking MTBCrazy home, you'll be rewarded in heaven... She took quite a tumble by the look of her, I hope she's okay. I'm not decided on tomorrow yet, fancy a bit of Aston but may change my mind and Swinley it up at 11. I'll text you in the morning as to whether I'm coming.

She was looking quite shaky when she got home. Stopped off to get her something to drink and she hurled in the shop - just glad it wasn't in my new car.
So provisionally for 11 - me and DK definites, BDJ and Ben possibles.

Mmm, nice hurling in the shop! Yeah, hope she'll be okay and full marks for getting her home. Was more coherent than cooldad when he whacked his head and didn't know where he was.

New helmet time anyway. Nice crack in it.

In my defence, my head is not that coherent at the best of times.

Excellently superb ride today. Perfect conditions - dry and dusty. Good company followed by a beer and a bacon roll.
    Good day.

    Good day.

Glad to here you guys had a good ride, there's nothing like a cold beer as reward. I had a brilliant morning at Aston Hill, really love the place. Only riding the Red Run and DH3 so far but want to get really comfortable with those before moving on. Can't wait for Cwmcarn.

Anyone doing anything over the long weekend? (Silly question ;)) I think I can get out one day at least - would prefer something worthwhile like a full day in SH or Aston. Any plans?

I'm free the whole weekend (how sad is that), so I'll fit in with you. Aston is a bit wasted on me, but I don't mind doing the red a few dozen times. I did the black by mistake but it scared the crap out of me.

In this dry, the DH3 will be fine. No worse than mtbcrazy's trail the other day! Maybe easier. I'd say not as steep, but many roots in places.

Anyway, where I go really going to depend what the union muppets announce on Wednesday. If it results in another stupid panic even though nothing can happen for 7 days at least, that causes problems for driving any long distance as need to fill up to get back. So rules out my options of either Devon or Wales. Aston I can get enough in the tank for. Though I object to filling up right now as the idiots have forced the prices so high!

You should be able to get to Wales and back if you don't drive like a hooligan ;)

Sounds good - Sunday it is? Hopefully assuming my roller bearing bits arrive I will have a Cane Creek DB air on the blur LT.... Looking forward to that!

  • Count me in for Sunday. Aston or SH sounds great. I'll be trying to get to Aston over the weekend at some point so if we're Surrey Hillsing on Sunday then I'll probably go Monday.

I think I'd favour SH for the Sunday ride, I'm still working on a courage deficiency for steep stuff!

We almost managed to kill someone last weekend in SH so...

Heh, yeah but I've got down that one intact a couple of times (and I've got down it after a comedy fall too) so I use it as a bridge to the promised land of Real Man. Once I can get down SH's steeper trails without being as slow and unsteady as I am, I think I'll be up for more DH business. It's getting closer...
  • Any SH riding going on Friday or Saturday? Wanna ride the SH but still unfamiliar with trail locations other than BKB and a few others on Holmbury.
Cant join ya'll on Sunday cos of Easter-y stuff

Looking like I'll be around over the weekend.

Friday - there's an MTBB ride doing it a little different starting from Newlands Corner with a ride to Peaslake and doing Winterfold, Pitch, Holmbury and then back. http://www.mtbbritain.co.uk/forum/index ... t&p=185319

Other than that, some on FB are going to Aston on Monday, so SH Sunday can do if I'm up for Aston on Monday. Could be completely shattered by then if I do this lot though!

Not sure which I'll do anyway, but SH Sunday is certainly a possibility.

Surrey Hills would be great for Sunday as for Aston on Monday I'm only going to go if it's defo dry which seems in the balance at the moment so I might just Swinley it up or something. Actually just thought of something, how's Rogate in the wet? Does anyone know? Wouldn't mind checking that place out?
