Well, Mr. NoJob / Semi-retired (can't be bothered) here is about so could probably make it. Unless by some chance I get an interview to go to tomorrow.

    SH Sunday sounds good.

Works for me. Got replacement hub to pick up in the morning, and do domestic chores (go to the tip), bacon something for lunch and ride.

Wouldn't mind trying to get a bit of Swinley in tomorrow, would have to be late morning/around lunchtime.
Thel33ter is staying with friends and I have to pick him up, quite a drive and it's not going to be too early

Would make a nice change, but won't make it that early. Picking him up at 10ish, no way I can get home and load bikes in time.
Gone down with a bit of a cold (my excuse for being even more rubbish than normal on Friday). So not too fussed about tomorrow.
I'll just play it by ear depending on when (if) we are ready so don't plan around us.

Keep an eye on the thread, and post your plans and something will be arranged. Regular trips to S Wales, and a couple of the guys spend a lot of time at Aston Hill.

Anything happening this weekend? School ride Saturday but wouldn't mind something on Sunday. Race on at Swinley so might be some trails blocked. If nothing else happening I might take a ride up late morning.

  • Looks like the thread is dying. Shame, I refuse to do Facebook as I find there is so much other s#i+e that goes with it. Had a good ride (alone) Sunday. Quick (OK...NOT so quick) climb up Radnor Road to CP1. Twice round Yoghurt Pots and a fast blast down Telegraph. A lazy road ride back to Peaslake followed by a quick cuppa and the short drive home.

Don't want to lose touch with you guys so...PLEASE.........Keep the thread up to date with whats going on.

I want to get over to Swinley soon and bring my mate James over with me (less climbing than SH). Would like a guided tour of the good bits but given that we are both very unfit at the moment......Need I say more?

    Speak to you all soon..

Thel33ter has his shock back and we fitted it last weekend, so he's bursting to get a decent ride in.
Was thinking of a SH one on Sunday, but happy to do a Swinley ride instead. Sure he'll be ok with it - I think he has more fun dicing with Ben than waiting for me.

There is so much random posting on various Facebook pages it's getting hard to keep things sorted. I do try to repost everything here though.

Should keep the arrangements here really. We've got many who only to Facebook though now, but yeah keep this the central place to arrange stuff. Facebook for the garbage and if people want to copy their post ride stuff there.
  • Sunday at Swinley is good for me. I went there yesterday and found what looked like some newly built DH style trails which I've never seen before:

    Anyone recognise this?

The trails are pretty nice and have loads of potential but as usual there was s**t loads of rubbish around.

Ps my full face has just come through the door :) so I'm defo up for some Aston or Cwmcarn action whenever anyone else is.

I think I recognise that tree. It's just down from the fireroad, next to the other tree.

Turns out thel33ter has a parade on Sunday morning, so we are stuck with the afternoon.

  • Is anyone out and about on Saturday? My usual riding buddies have deserted me, the wife is out with the girls... I gotta ride! Don't mind if Swinley/SH/wherever really.

Ha ha! I suppose it is. Didn't think of that, I'll show you guys on Sunday. Only short but fun.

    That's the one!
  • My mate James and I may well be up in the SH Saterday afternoon if anyone wants to meet up for a while. We'll be around YP and that area getting used to new gear as we've both made some changes since our day with Jedi. James has a new stem/bar combo and I'm running a new stem and new Hope brakes. That combined with riding changes means it feels very different to how it used to before.

Actually...Maybe it's best to stay away from the carnage that may well happen!

I drove through surrey hills today, I had a delivery at wooton house.
I must say the area looks awsome. I see plenty of cars with roof mounted MTB's.

I would really like to try SH at some point

@Danny, I did that trail a while ago, its down from near the reservoir if I remember correctly. It seemed very new when I found it, but I haven't been able to find it since. That drops good fun for practising on.

Yeah that's right. The drop is fun to practice on, it's funny how first time I was a bit apprehensive but after the second time I didn't even think about it! The berm flows on very nicely to a couple of jumps too. At the top there are a few different choices as to how you get down it. Potential to be really good I reckon.

@milko9000 we have school on Saturday, but I'll post up if anyone has any plans.

@mar_k keep an eye on here. Things are looking a bit messy the next week or so, but there are regular rides there, and it's much easier with someone who knows the place.

  • I'm not going to be able to make Sunday anymore due to work but will defo be out next weekend.

:) as previous poster said, the run starts by the reservoir but comes Back on yourself, I.e. the opposite direction to to telegraph mast, clubhouse etc. it's very loose and technical at the top with that small jump at the bottom. I've been riding it since last summer but could have been there a lot longer. Happy to join a ride and show you if you can't remember.

Conditions were near perfect today with only very small patches of standing water/mud remaining. That said, it'll probably p:ss it down in a week or so and the quagmire will return! The warden was on patrol also today, I didn't have my permit on me and he was ok with it. The price is increasing to £25 for 2012 which is still nothing if your riding it regularly.
