After today's weather, Redlands will be a swamp.

Up for some Surrey Hills stuff though, in preference to Swinley but easy really.

Sunday better as I can spend Saturday stripping down the bike to get rid of the damn pivot squeaking.

Swinley via train from Guildford, would Blackwater not be a closer stop? At least if you go in via the "back entrance" :D.

Well yeah, the rain hadn't hit here in full force when I said redlands. Quite fancy Donnie Darko and the other stuff we found over that way again. I reckon 4-5 runs down the full run will be tiring and really good fun.

I am only picking up thel33ter late Sunday morning so can probably only make Sunday afternoon, or Saturday afternoon once I get my shock sorted. All the bits arrived, just need to sort out with Benpinnick when I pop past to use his tool.

I need a shock and fork service in the next couple of months. I'll probably send them off though ;)

Shock is easy and takes 15 minutes. Forks seem a bit harder but will have a go soon.
Current problem is just a bushing that needs replacing, but need a tool to get it out and put the new one in.

I had my lbs do bushings on the trance. Cost me a fiver including new bushings but that was only after the other lbs said it'd take them a week to do it.

I thought it be nice and sunny tomorrow, however expecting "light rain". So Sunday looks and sounds much better

I'll be done before 2pm when the forecast says its likely to rain anyway. Seriously considering Westcott for the long trail back (even though the ride up is a bastard)

it didn't really rain here so redlands is okay.

MrB - The main bit I'm interested in riding is mangrove. How's that riding (I'll probably skip the swamp and just head up after the tree jump).

Westcott start is best for going to Ranmore in my opinion.

The climb to Leith is definitely not fun, but the way back more than makes up for it. I'm all about the long runs this weekend for some reason.

I'm thinking Westcott to tower. Donnie Darko, push up past the big double. Then the long run we did last time. Then back up. Then the full run along the other ridgeline we rode part way up to come back down again. Then either another run down or back up and the whole summer lightning/wolverns run into Westcott.

mtbcrazy - Westcott is near Dorking. Leith Hill is near Westcott. Trails are on Leith Hill :)

There's a nice/hideous (depending on your point of view) climb alternative to just going up churned up Wolvens Lane, which is round via Sheephouse Lane. Road along into a nasty climb then along the bridleway all the way up to Leith (bottom of climb to tower). Can always head off to the right towards Friday Street.

Could be pushed to Swinley. Seems to be getting later each time, 2pm! :D

Suits me though being no early bird.

Am I finally going to be able to get there without road closures this time?

Will see as still would like to get some demo bikes out on Surrey Hills.

Swinley at 2 yes. Can only pick up thel33ter late morning, and need to unwales his bike a bit.

Thanks to Benpinnick for waking me up at the crack of dawn, and the loan of his bushing tool (well actually removing the old one and fitting new one but he looked like he was having fun wielding a mallet so... ).
And maybe the crack of dawn was really 10.30 but it felt early.

Spent the afternoon cleaning adjusting lubing and refitting shock, obviously when I finished I'd somehow left one of the spacers off so had to do the shock again.
Now looking lovely and all play gone from the back end so good day.

Tomorrow looks like me, thel33ter, Benpinnick, mtbcrazy, and DK? maybe possibly probably. Roads are all fine now.

Ben had issues and they wouldn't let mtbcrazy on the bus, so smaller group than expected. DK an hour or so late as usual, but good conditions, nice sunny weather and fun ride.
And have the week off. Yeehaa.

Was messing about stripping down and rebuilding half the bike and took longer than usual. Simple task to just remove, clean bearings and refit, but takes bloody ages with so many parts to fiddle with and having to take the crank off.

Still, the creaking has gone at last! For a few weeks anyway.

Good ride anyway and nice weather. A few little puddles to spoil my clean bike, but the loose sketchy dry stuff has been damped down a bit to provide a little grip so was pretty good. Even got a minuscule bit of air on the jump gully.

Careful now. Sorry I missed you, although I did get a ride in early. Was good conditions other than the puddles like DK said.

I was surprised to see that new stickler had remained dry and no big pools!
