I think supra got a bike. Fair guess whose bike given he's borrowing a meta ;)

He's gonna die on Meta, I would get Wolfridge anytime.

Looks as if my car giving up a ghost, and there is a lot of unpacking+decorating to do in my new place. I am left stranded with my wife's bike to commute to work now. Not sure if I just spit on it all and buy newer shiny car?

Shiny new cars and bikes take priority.

Supra was fine on the meta. Given the usual number of mechanicals on a ride with Plaisir, probably better for him to ride a bike that didn't break ;)

In any case, great day. Jedi's a fantastic teacher and despite the fact Supra and I have different learning requirements and slightly different things to watch out for, we both got what we needed to improve. Even though we picked up a good set of jump and drop skills, probably the thing you're going to notice most is the ability to carry speed better across all trails.

I agree, Jedi is a great teacher. Extra speed but mostly how easy it is to get is impressive. still need to work on things to change habits. Now im tempted to return later and try the northshore stuff, but later. Now need to practice all that.

I congratulate you lot with newly gained skillz! Jedi is topman not only on teaching day but he supports in later riding stages too.

Until I sort something out with car, looks as if I don't have any chance of joining you lot.

Me+Cooldad are gonna be at Swinley tomorrow afternoon, probably around 1:30pm or 2:00pm. Not sure if there is anything else planned.

Specially for you Atz - Just after the unexpectedly long test ride, ended up riding for an almost non-stop 3 hours. Everything was dry, we even saw some sand 8)

Holy crap. Why? Did cooldad make you do it? Do we need to stage an intervention?

Is that an old mech rather than a tensioner BTW? Finally, how'd you find the hills on it, makes a difference to have to keep the momentum up I found

I think that's the reaction he wanted.
I had nothing to do with it. All his own work.
Still couldn't keep up with him though.

Lovely frame though. It's nice to see it alive again, albeit looking a bit different to when I rode it.

It's made from loads of bits we had lying around, I only bought the forks, brakes and sprockets. Got some other bits free.

The tensioner is an old Alivilo mech with most of the cage hacksawed off, and an extra long B screw (from a Meccano set of all places)

I got up almost every hill in Swinley, the chain was skipping a bit in the beginning as it bedded in which didn't help, but it seemed to fix itself. Anyway, I made it up the steep rocky hill towards the start of Deer Stalker ect. Running a 34/16 ratio.

I think Adrian (the guy with the meta) was trying to drum up some people to go with and I know there's a couple of others looking to go but might want a 1 to 1 session.

Have just booked up a spot on the drops/jumps skills session that they are doing on 05 April.

Its an open session but a bit cheaper at £75 a pop.

Adrian asked me if I was interested, and said I could probably do April. All dependent on dates though. Might be away end of April, plus work gets in the way unfortunately. Need to find a way of earning money to ride instead of sitting in front of computers all day. Don't have Jedi's teaching skills so that's out :)

Don't mind a 2 to 1 or 3 to 1 if we can agree on dates.

Or otherwise if there's a space on the Jumps & Drops I may do that, though think I need to sort out my skills generally and probably getting air is the least of my problems :D. Would like the confidence to do it though.

I think it's fairly safe to say that the absolute hardest thing (technically at least) I did in the time we were with Jedi was actually getting a flat corner right as it required everything to be spot on. The drops were easier than I imagined they'd be and the jumping felt like some fun after the hard parts were done with. Although clearing the double gave me the biggest grin, getting down the practice trail smoothly took most work for me (and you need to have the right technique for the drop on that anyway) as there's bits of everything on it.

Jedi's place is purpose built and it's ace to train/develop there.

Atz Supra, I told ya jumping n droping is easy learning (30minutes at best). General core that's where it is at. Bring them corners baby!

For 1st month of your transformation I want to film you.

Some guys want to come up from Brighton on Saturday for a SH marathon. Not sure I can make it, but I'm probably the worst person to find my way anyway. Anyone up for a Saturday ride?

Also there's the STW Spring Sexy ride or some such nonsense on Sunday. I think ATZ was planning to come. Anyone else?

Considering a Friday morning Swinley actually. Got a day off so might be a good time to practice while it's quiet there.

If I try either of those I'll likely still be there at the weekend, in bits. However I do fancy spending an hour in the jump gully and some time on babymaker's tabletops without constant through traffic.

Atz, what sort of time you thinking of going on Friday, also have got the day off but fancy bit of a lie in.

Will also need to get a permit.

Send me a PM if still going.

    Cheers
