Though if the shore stuff has been ripped down... :(

Not that there was a lot of it.

TH is a small area but lots of things hidden away. Problem is remembering where it is. Still not sure why I don't ride it more often given it's the closest area to me.

Maj - is this a daytime ride? A lot of organised rides at TH seem to be night rides.

Tim, it will be during the day - the start time depends you whatever you guys want - it could be from 8.30 am to 10.00 am. I know two people who know the area really well and have linked up really nice.

I have been on a night ride - it is awesome - try it some time.

    cheers

Just need to sort the lights out and need a few gentle introductory rides I think to get used to it, and learn how to avoid badgers and the like :D. Would mean I could ride during the week after work though, outside of summer.

Though I like exploring in the day time.

Some of the Swinley regulars will be organising a Tunnel Hill pootle - probably on the 20th Feb.....Is anyone interested in doing this?
Let me know if you fancy it.....

Could be up for that, may have to work that weekend though, will know next week, keep us updated on here with details. Wouldnt mind exploring somewhere new.
Start time not an issue... within reason....

I think thel33ter is going to Wales that weekend, but I would be up for it. Later is better though.

Yup, pretty sure I'm in Wales, pity all the 'shore' is gone, still two baby bridges left though. And about 2 niceish drops.

Well if you're all doing cwmcarn why not have a practice downhill session at Aston Hill next sunday.

i'm keen for aston hill this sunday...although i've just looked at the weather forecast and it's not looking good
  • well if the weather is s*** like it is today we can just go back to swinley maybe, shouldn't be too bad there if it is a little wet.

Happy with whatever this weekend. Preferably something with some distance.

As I haven't been able to ride for a few weeks that's just cruel.

    Distance?...

    Peaslake -> Winterfold -> Pitch -> Peaslake (cheese straws) -> Holmbury -> Leith -> Holmbury -> Peaslake

    !

Or loops round Swinley or maybe somewhere else.

Sunday best for me as I can strip the bike down Saturday to do some further maintenance. Though mainly just the BB to do which shouldn't take long and maybe a Saturday PM ride if I'm not feeling too lazy.

We have school ride on Saturday, so Sunday. Don't mind where, but despite thel33ter, I'd probably be better off with something not too heavy.

  • Sunday only for me and it'll be Aston hill if nice weather and Swinley if not so nice, not bothered about milage just want to hit up labyrinth again
  • i'm up for surrey hills on sunday, been raining a little today but shouldn't be as bad as before out on the trails. i'd say i'd be up for swinley too but i'd have to get the train at 7.55 to be there for 10am.

Possibly sunday a goer for me. Up for anything but Pitch & Winterfold would be good if the weather isn't too diabolical.
As for next week, is there still anything getting planned for wales? Shame the uplift is fully booked, i got all excited and bought a full face

I'm up at Coed y Brenin, I think.

Happy to do whatever this weekend.

@DK, any chance we can borrow the headset putter inner thingy again? My new headset is kinda weird, and Cooldad is out of planks of wood

The forecast says light rain for sunday, but according to the met office it shouldn't actually rain until 12 at Aston Hill. The Aston Hill website says it will be damp, but I'd still like to give it a go. What do you think Bungalistic? Anyone else fancy it?

Probably aim to get there for 9.30 tomorrow.

Yeah, I can bring it along.

I got impatient, used a breadboard instead, so don't worry.

More likely to be swiney for us tomorrow, cause coodad doesn't fancy aston much.

  • Think i'm going to wait till morning to decide if I want to go aston or swinley, if it's fairly dry aston should be ok but i'm happy to wait till a sunnier weekend if I have too. It costs £7 to ride aston too and it'll suck if it downpours for most of the day.

Ex breadboard I think he means. Managed two headsets but there are bits of wood all over the place.
DK if you have an external bb spanner could you bring it along - I need one to fit the discs onto my new wheels. Will bring them along so will only need it for a minute to tighten them up.
I still fancy Swinley tomorrow, mainly because I had a gentle ride this morning and still a bit achy when it gets rough, not be mention a bit out of shape. (more than usual).
How about Go Ape around 10? Except for the people going to Aston.

Well, struggling with a seized BB cup at the moment. One side is off, the other is welded tight and not budging even after 3-in-1 stuff, breaker bar and applying fire to it. At the moment no bike until I can get it removed.

The BB stuff I've got are the kind for square socket wrenches, internal isis/shimano style one and external kind for hollowtech II (i.e. like my GXP). Use the internal one for my pivots.

Are you turning it the right way? Drive side has a reverse thread I think so need to loosen it clockwise.

Just realised I've cocked it up. Yeah was turning it the wrong way .

So now I've overtightened it. Wont budge the other way either now.

Possibly fire was a bit extreme. Presumably bike will go though - just with old bb?
You could try a bit of hammer. My standard smartarse answer, but sometimes a bit of shock gets things moving. Not hard, just a short sharp set of taps.
