Done the hammer, nothing budging. Also snapped a hex key using the breaker bar!. That thing normally shifts everything that's stuck.

The BB assembly on the i-drive is simply a linkage from bottom pivot and a replaceable part and I can get that off easily, so could see if I can find one but doubt it would be easy. Otherwise I either cut BB cup out just live with it in place. Shame as I wanted to fit the fancy new style one which has better seals to avoid crud getting in. Though mainly got it as it's got the new bearings and as cheap as getting them on their own. May be able to get the cartridge bearing out of the new and into the old, though think they're designed to be sealed in place.

Soaking for days in penetrating stuff might get it. I'd have to take the linkage off.

Ah well, yeah for now I could stick the old BB cup back on the other side and should be rideable. Just there's quite a bit of play in it and the bearings are grinding away.

Just wouldn't want you to miss out tomorrow. Suppose it's a choice of grinding away until you can get it sorted or waiting. Can you handle cold turkey?

I'll put it back together and grease it up loads. Should be okay. Assuming I haven't done any other damage.

So anyway, 10 at Go Ape hopefully. I'll bring the external BB tool stuff.

Great ride today, apart from my Camelback deciding to empty itself over my back right at the beginning.

Can't wait for the photos 8)

How was the jump gulley? Been slippy as hell and slow running for weeks.

The drop ins and most of the first jump were sketchy, but after that you could get enough speed to clear the left hand side of the double easily.

Excellent photos there nick. Must get some tips off you for the action shots. I can never quite get them right.

Got some good videos too. Nice editing and choice of music. Need you for our Wales epics.

From there that drop looks quite small. From the top it looks like a cliff. Must be 6' at least. Weird.

Daymn you look real bad azz. I would be scared to drop it there. Maybe after a bottle or two surely will do fine.
    What could have been (Video)

I'll choose not put too much stake into someone's opinion who is admittingly terrible though

It's not that bad, there's a nice run in, and a perfect transition, hardest bit judging the speed, and committing to it, obviously.

  • How are you all ???

Sorry been way busy over past few weeks.

whats been occurring ?? anything new been happening?

have not really ridden that much but went to Chicksands on friday in a group of 10 of us and had a great day!! apart from crashing twice , once on a 6ft kicker going way to fast and using my head for a brake . and then on the last run down the 4x track doing a 15ft table and having a full blow out on landing, this sent me flying into my mates line and he proceeded to run over my head and body!! I will now be needing a new helmet !!

When you all riding next ? might try to organise a trip to chicksands if anyone is interested, Only thing is it is probably better to organise as a week day ride as it means we would have the place to ourlseves.

    Was Chicksands reasonably dry?
  • I'd be up for chicksands (it's pretty close to me) but only on weekends as I work week days, not sure when i'll get out next as my fork blew up on sunday in swinley.

Alright bungalistic - hows the collarbone? :)
  • Healed thankfully, starting to feel stronger now took a few rides before I had the strength to jump again.

Chicksands sounds like fun, but of a drive away though.

I'm away this weekend, but around the one afterwards, and possibly can do a Swinley during the week.

Chicksands is only another 30 - 40 minutes further than Aston Hill by the looks of it.

I'm not gonna be out for another couple of weeks yet due to a trapped nerve in my neck and knackered chainrings (My new/Second hand one's arrived today). I also have to dismantle/collect a greenhouse and cut down a large Willow tree this weekend. The following weekend will be taken up with erecting the new greenhouse and fitting new chainrings...SOoooo.. Looking at first weekend in March to get back out with you guy's.

    Can't wait...

Can be a weekend if you fancy, Pm and sort something , good to hear shoulder is better pal.

  • I am rather unfit at present and therefore need to start the painful process of getting fit for summer ( AHH dry trails in short sleeves and the sun ) sorry was some where else then !!

Who is up for a long ride in 2 weekends time ?? i am considering going out and trying to hurt myself so probably be a Dorking meet then do some distance, although Mud may waylay the distance part.

anyway what say you all ??

its not that far, less than wales for a day anyway....and it is fun ,4x , dual slalom , dirt jumps, freeride area .....

And it is a bit more forgiving than aston hill if it goes tits up.

  • Hey boys,

  • Chicksands is no further than I have to drive most sundays to get to swinley or surrey, you could always car share.

It's also a cool little place to work on skills, bit of jumping, some drops etc....... so much fun to be had there.

I'll prob not be out this weekend unless I can get some forks, up for a ride weekend after though.
