Would be interested in Cwm and/or Afan mid March onwards. North Wales trip is surely on the cards too.

That leaves working out the logistics of a Scottish trip.

By the time you've got to Scotland, could get to the SW of France and Andorra ;)

Stop btching around. I was overtaken by Lycra dood when I crashed off the trail there. Didn't like the sight of his meat and veg so had to let him go. Doh.

I want to join Lycra brigade, it's so difficult to get out there these days. Must train my veggies if I want to keep up with you lot.

At least not only me, who was struggling with fitness that day. Suppose once Adrian gets his bombers he will own us not only on uphills but shame many on descents !

I was almost reduced to tears once I saw them XC mincers power through on the trails. If those snakes get their liberties they will start elbowing us lot off the trails. Must invest in heart rate monitor or the likes to start getting better.

@Pieman, Atz n Supra going to herts in March which leaves you opportunity to join DKenny at later date.

plus cut on pizza hut and beer. by the way im actually doing the same to get back in racer shape.

yep going 12 march to bikeskillz.

other wise the mondraker is silly fast bike even with hubs full on muck a front brake rubing alot.didnt struggle at all to follow the guys... plus that bike is built for cwm carn way better at speed.

Due to me being a fair weather rider, I would rather ride on the road than spending monies on petrol to places and mince through all muck.

I need to fix my SS if I'm riding it tomorrow, the BB is about to blow up. Guess it's due some maintenance after 23 years.

You said you were going on a skills course ? I would say that riding as hard as you can in the muck is one of the best aides to your skills that you can come across and its free.......if slightly muddy.

    How are you all ?

Just a quick warning to you all, the local landowners are a little bit up in arms at present. Redlands is a no go area again, they have had the police in there and at least 3 people we know have had threats of Impounded bikes etc.
Thought you might like to know. Also be careful on winterfold and parts of leith again people have had issues recently, signs have started to appear again warning people off etc.

On a lighter note did a new ride ( on me ) up ranmore and box today, twas awesome new trails etc

Anyone fancy a ride next weekend ?

I thought Redlands was okay but some trails were cheeky or is it the whole place is cheeky?

In any case, I don't go anywhere near it unless the weather has been good for a while. As for next weekend, almost certainly out.

We're around tomorrow, anyone planning anything? Maybe SH so MrB isn't lonely.

Rode my SS for the first time today, got about 20m up a hill and the chain exploded

I find it difficult to justify spending good part of £20 on fuel on a promise of ploughing through mud. Tough times these days with monies.

    Boxhill Ranmore adventures sound awesome!

There were few signs erected on Leith hill as if riding with permits only, WTF? Thought it was directed at MX's.

There's no permit scheme for Leith that I've heard of. And I may go there in the morning to prove it ;)

I did a quick loop from Peaslake over Holmbury/Leith and back this morning. It was crap. Wetter than last week, and a proper mud fest. Not sure I'd bother.

Yet the police are fine to drive down our private parking lane (not owned by us but the national trust), over the little ditch into the small bit of common before it turns into holmwood common woods and get stuck there all afternoon (literally) chewing up tonnes of grass and mud before calling the fire brigade in with a real 4x4 to get them out damaging my neighbours fence in the process.

How does it drain? I'm really not loving the idea of cleaning all of my bikes in one go tomorrow (got two to do already).
  • any plans for tomorrow?

The singletrack is similar stuff to Deer Stalker, but most of it has drainage built in.
