Cool, once you're with car that opens up loads more places to ride.

Assuming you can afford the insurance though. I'm shocked by how much new/young drivers are charged for insurance these days!

I was always on my parents insurance and once I started to pay my own it was affordable but I think it helps to have a few years under your belt before going it alone

Not just nowadays... my first car insurance cost me 1300 squids and that was over ten years ago, doesnt seems to have changed.

Problem now is affording the fuel to get anywhere, I used to pay 16squids to fill up my ole Fiesta Ghia back in the day!..

Anyway, not sure bout Sunday yet, want to get out but am on call, keep us informed, meeting points etc

    Cheers

Car insurance... at least in france there was a loop hole to silly prices....
Get a car old enough to be considered collection or classic or historic.... insurance for classic cars is cheap as usually guys love there cars and mileage is limited.... and you can end up having really nice things.... alfa romeo gtv, guilietta, audi s2 quattro, lancia delta hf, vw scirroco.. I regerted the day i had to get a modernish slugish diesel that cost 1500 instead of the 300 i paid for mk1 golf gti

Probably at Swinley breaking in/just breaking the SS, half cause I still haven't ridden it, and half cause I may have no forks

Or could have a run around Tunnel Hill, was interesting last week.

Probably only send forks off next week, so if they are working ok you could still use that.

As for SS may have to see if the old hanger I found works.

Hope to hit Swinley this weekend early morning. Must start fitness program, was dreadful in Cwmcarn climbs.

Maybe that's a plan, early swinley, then a tunnel hill the next day.

Overall I found Coed y Brenin a bit of a disappointment, the trails were fun, but nothing was too challenging, and there were very few unique features, overall I preferred afan.

I'm up for riding on sunday. Tunnel Hill looks interesting from the little video I just watched so I'd be up for that. I didn't have much time last weekend so I had a quick solo explore of Pitch Hill on the saturday and I'd be keen to get back there soon as well.

Surprised at that. I'd have thought you'd find CYB a lot better. Seemed to me to be so much more and found it more technical on the descents (well, more rocks). That said I've still only done Whites at Afan.

    Have you done Cwmcarn yet?

    Thel33ter + CYB = Epic Fail.

Don't even attempt to argue, you rode family trails (blue-green).

His badazz trolling name is now MrTutu. And only MrTutu.

We rode the beast of brenin, false teeth was the best bit, those rocky jumps were great fun, the next day we rode Tarw, the original trail. snap, crackle and pop were the best followed by the second last descent.

I wasn't allowed to do the green

I did enjoy it, but expected more techy stuff, wedgy is harder than 99% of the stuff there.

Falseteeth isn't the only highlight of CYB. Trail before that with multiple drops was better IMO, as well as many selections on Dragons Back. Obviously most fun in Thel33ters desires come from airtrade, but -Son, let me tell ya ... you ain't getting any air out of trail if speed hasn't been carried through. All Sunday warriors agree 'bout that.

Even bestest riders do ride their trails that slow, MrTutu was thrashed in Cwmcarn.

    Amen.

  • I'd be up for tunnel hill or swinley this sunday, will be heading out from the new house though so may get lost on the way.

Cwmcarn was great at the weekend but for some reason no one had any strength on those climbs (except adrian maybe) though the downs were all worth it.
  • Hi all,

just checking in, it's bit a couple of weeks due to shoulder problems, cooldad I now know the pain, that'll teach me form trying the drop off that is Donie Darko.

How you all keeping, should hopefuly be about this weekend, any plans in place yet? would be good to give tunnel hill a go as don't know much around there.

Post up any plans and I'll keep an eye out.

    See you all sometime

Swinley is gonna be an absolute bog, been raining here for the last few days, although it was sunny today, so if the next few days are dry it should be ok.

I don't really mind where we go, although Popstar is planning something vaguely early at Swinley sometime.

Welcome back Pieman. Yeah mines still giving me niggles but I'm fine on the easy stuff - so nothing new there.
I think there might be an early one Sat at Swinley, and Sunday planning a bit of an explore around Tunnel Hill. Did a ride there last weekend with some guys who know it well and some good singletrack.

Boggy Swinley doesn't sound all that appealing :P Guess I need to figure out how to get a bike into the new car this weekend, rather than exploring the olympic road route
  • Cwm carn was good . Great fun on air stream. The climb was hard , we were all out of strength. And lots of lycra every where. ( some one was over taken on the downs by lycra.) I struggled to find or understand where i crashed last time.... Managed to get an uplift. the new section after the road drop that has the huge berm is really good and Fast.

Feel like returning soon. Maybe out in SH not sure yet.
