As for the XC ride, I really wanted to get this hardtail built for that kind of stuff. My GT is not ideal for XC. More of an all-mountain tank.0 -
Hey. I've just moved to london and wondered if there were any rides organised for the weekend that it would be ok to tag along? I'm in Leytonstone and could give 1 or 2 people a lift if required. Anything that involves singletrack would be good. I fancy having a go at Aston Hill at some point too if anyone was keen for that.
thanks

Hey Nick, you are welcome to join group rides. Looks as if Bungalistic lives near you in ELondon. Think sooner or later people will make up mind on where they want to ride SH-Swinley etc. Aston hill is not advisable now, after so much of rain it's just not worth it.What could have been (Video)

Anybody out Saturday ?0
-
Doing bike maintenance Saturday, weather and postal service dependent (else creaky muddy bike will be out as usual and hope I don't snap the chain again), so will be aiming for a Sunday ride myself.
I'm guessing Cooldad is going to be out of action, or only up for a leisurely ride. Then again, that's our normal ride anyway .
There's this XC ride round Frensham way I think on the Sunday but don't think I'm up for that myself. Wrong bike and not got the fitness for it having still not shaken this stupid cold.0 -
Doubt I'll be out this weekend. Need some bits to fix the bike, and I'm not doing SH on a rigid with cantis. Managed to lift the kettle today so on the mend.I don't do smileys.

Kind of off topic for your/out usual ride area's but does/has anyone here been over to Hindhead area recently?
I started my MTB love affair on Hindhead Common 30 years ago (on a modified road frame with flat bars and off road tyres!!!!) when I lived there as a kid. Not ridden that area for about 6-7 years but if anyone fancies a gentle pootle this weekend.........I'm game. The Punchbowl is good as well although I don't know the trails as well.
Looking at Sunday if anyone's up for it. If not, maybe we could do another weekend as a change for you lot?
Se you all soon now the Marin is finally finished 8)

Thanks Popstar. I'm keen for a ride on the sunday and an explore of the surrey hills (never ridden there before) or swinley both sound good. I'll keep checking this thread.0

That's not a ride... That's 2 bloke on mountain bike trying not to get lost ;-)
Can't do Saturday 0845 as I will most likely live the place about 2300 the night before.
So Sunday it is for me. Will ride Swinley if I have to but was looking at changing a bit and heading to SH but I would need a guide as I have no idea where to good trails are...Focus First 20100 -

The area is National Trust I think?
Not sure about Sunday. Depends if I've reassembled the bike in time, but might end up going out after lunch. May just do local exploring round Tunnel Hill.0 -
should hopefully be around sunday, will check in sat night to see plans.0

I've been there, we only found a few average roll ins, a dead bike which we scavenged a few bits from, and mud.And now you know, and knowing is half the battle

Saw that a while ago, although I read the comments first which ruined it somewhat..
Make me think of a race between a sports car and a muscle car. On a motocross track, the bike would be out of sight almost instantly. But a mtb on a twisty dh course that the riders knows is pretty much unbeatable, by anything. And now you know, and knowing is half the battle

Us lot on the MTB Britain forum are out at 8.45 / 9.00 am for a 3hr pootle about. Hopefully somewhere between 6 & 12 of us I hope.
Why don't you come on down ?

I need a lie in but might see if I can make it. Otherwise I'll be riding somewhere on Sunday, prob around SH somewhere0

I tried but can't get my roof rack on, so probably a sign I shouldn't ride. Thel33ter is a bit disappointed as he could have got out tomorrow, but we should be on for both days next week.
New mech hanger arrived today, all I need now is a new saddle.I don't do smileys.
