I wouldn't mind trying some of the more freeridey bits if there is space and lots of cheapness

@popstar that sofa looks just about all I could manage at the moment.

Went to work today. Possibly laid it on a bit thick, but got looks of awe and lust from the women, and envy from the men (and possibly a bit of lust too). And chocolate.
Made sure the MD's and my boss knew I was acting beyond the call of duty even coming in.
So not a bad day. Feeling fine except for some bruises and a very sore shoulder.

Still can't remember a thing though, even where I crashed. Anyone see anything (or was I at the back as usual?).

I'm thinking after 13th March now when I'm back from skiing. Before then I don't want to go doing jumps or whatever and risk breaking something (i.e. myself) and screw up the holiday.

You were actually in front of me. Just coming down the 4x4 track that heads down before climbing up the steep rooty hill up to the Leith Hill tower. Not sure what happened as it was all over so quick, but think you caught the front wheel on something and just went over the bike. All I saw was a blur of yellow + bike, you on the ground and bike followed behind.

Outside of concern for your dazed state, it was quite funny as you were asking the same questions over and over and didn't know where you were, what happened, where the bike was, and couldn't understand why you couldn't just get back on the bike and ride. We'd explain it all, and then you'd forgot again a minute later! Memory like a fish.

Last time we went to quarry to survey drops into slopes, have seen some arty kickers into heaven. But didn't see those switchbacks, surely will see them soon.

DKenny, I hardly see myself how would you hurt yourself on skills session. But if it was for fun and video's, then obviously I would like to push you down the cliff in -Alpine- training area.

    Cooldad, iz da reel man.

Admire your strength and strong will to go back into MTB. Thel33ter should be very happy you didn't retreat into comforts of sofa with dissaproval of silly sport. Think for 2 months or so Thel33ter is stuck to road riding.

Months? Pah! Helmet ordered, think I've found the right mech hanger. Have spare mech and saddle if I need until replaced. See you Sunday. (Unless it still hurts, then I'll stay home, whimper and feel sorry for myself.)

Well as long as you guys got a laugh out of it. I sort of remember up to that point, was really enjoying the ride, and for a change not right at the back. Typical.
And I think that's my normal memory, courtesy of my misspent youth.

  • Good to see your OK Cooldad  .

Having thrown motorcycles up the road at high speed for a living in my dim and distant past, I can tell you that getting straight back on asap is the best thing to do.

Hope to see you and the guys Sunday (assuming your riding SH's that is).

I used to crash motorcycles a lot as well, so obviously my level of skill hasn't improved.
But it seemed to hurt less, and I mended a bit quicker.

    Guys,

Thanks for allowing me to join on Sunday. It was certainly an eventful day and it must be great cycling when dry - particularly the Deliverance and Summer Lightening trails. Great views too - just wish i had bought my camera.

CD, glad to hear you are doing well and on the mend. Look forward to biking with you again sometime. Well done to Alan and Victor and everyone else who pulled together on the day. From the riding i did on Sunday, i would NOT like to cycle there on my own - one wrong turn and it could be pretty serious.

I mentioned this to some of you on sunday, we are planning on doing a XC pootle around Caesars Camp / Frensham on the 23rd. (DK did something similar last year) You would be most welcome to join us. We ride at the slowest persons pace. No one gets left behind.

Here is a link if you are interested to the ride

Sorry for going off topic here but I believe it's time I get the rear break working on the bike for this weekend so wondering if anyone might have an avid bleed kit that I could use?

I recently bought an universally overpriced bleed kit but of course it wasn't universal enough for avid breaks

I've got one you could borrow if you need to.

You know there's a Merida Brass Monkeys race around Caesar's Camp way on Sunday? May not be the best place to ride, some trails will inevitably be taped off.

njee20, yes i know but we hope to avoid all that. The guy who is leading lives around that area and knows it quite well. I hope we will be ok and not get in anyones way.

You won't get in peoples way I'm sure, it'll just be taped off, so it's just if you want to ride trails that are in the race you won't be able to.
  • 'The guy' has a fair idea as to where the taped areas may be and he may even go on a recce on Saturday afternoon just to be sure. Last year was mainly over the Church Crookham side I seem to recall.

njee - Is this the same place they had the brass monkey round last year? roll-in and bridge at the very end of the lap all on MoD land? If so, might sort out the HT and give it a go.
  • Having looked at the start times we'll be over the hill and far away before racing begins.

The bank and the bridge (rather a glorious term for such a small plank of wood) will no doubt be included. With a bit of speed you can get quite a tidy entrance onto the arena. :)

CD suppose with all your Lycra you wouldn't be out of place there.Where does gang plan to ride this weekend? If CD is conditioned and groomed enough for riding, how gnarly can we ride? Hope to ride something techy but don't mind squeeze something new to ride, must concentrate on fitness too.
Sounds as if new peeps are interesting with their knowledge. It looks as if dry spell for few days will make trails sweet.

I think I might be up to the gentle school ride on Saturday morning, but doubt my shoulder will handle any rough stuff yet.
Don't think I'll have the bike sorted neither, need to get the mech hanger off to get a new one.
So plan without me, and make it as knaaaaaarly as you want.
If I make a miracle cure, I'll come long.
