Garmin 705. Probably one of the best purchases you can make for a bike.

Well, I just remembered that I wanted a shorter stem for the Litespeed so I thought I'd ring Planet X to see if it was too late to change.

I rang the main number, they answered straight away and the lad on the other end of the line took my details and said that someone would see if they could dig it out and change it before dispatch, he siad someone would contact me later.

About 5 minutes later someone rang me back saying they'd sorted it.

A big NapD Shout Out to Planet X customer service!

Hmmph. Not all they are cracked up to be. I guess it comes down to individual experience.

Earlier this year I made my first purchase from PX - I bought an FSA Gossamer Chainset. The thing turned up and was missing the O rings. I complained, but they didn't have any to send me and wouldn't resolve the problem saying that they buy this stuff cheap on the basis that there might be some incomplete sets or minor problems and the risk is with the buyer. (I don't remember seeing that warning on the website). I gave them the benefit of the doubt because the O rings are pretty cheap to buy, so left it at that.

I have resisted a purchase since then, but the current deals are pretty good, so I tried again and ordered the CNC brakes, Zipp bars, Zipp stem and a PX Long sleeve black jersey on Tuesday last week. I have just had a phone call this morning saying they are only packing my order now and are out of the long sleeve black jersey and do I want a red one?

Now, I accept that Christmas is a busy time, but I can see from this thread that people have been getting orders delivered in a shorter time than it has taken them to even pick mine! Also, on the day i placed my order for the black jersey they had 8 left in stock according to the website, so either they don't keep the website up to date, it isn't linked to the stock system or they run a "first picked - first served" system. Whichever, it obviously resulted in me missing out. :(

All minor gripes I know, but they all add up to a poor service for myself and I have to say the customer service and approach on the phone has been very similar to Ribble.

Alex, next time - get the name of the chap you spoke to. IF I ever decide to buy from PX again then I need the names of the helpful staff because the one's who call me aren't going to win customer service awards any time soon!

Do you guys get despatch e-mails?

I ordered the same day as someone further up the post (bars and stem) all be it late in the evening, and am wondering as he got his today whether mine will arrive today.

No dispatch e-mail received though :?

Money was taken off my card yesterday, so am hoping/assuming thet means they had the stock, and maybe sent it out yesterday and just not sent out an e-mail - we shall see.

No news on my order placed early Saturday morning (Zipp bars and stem) .... but it could arrive today I guess - no dispatch email or anything so far.... First time I've ordered from Planet-X. I'm not expecting any problems - but no news yet. Just to share in the variety of shipping experiences.

....and I thought I kept that a secret from them. How did they find out!

I got an order confirmation last Tuesday (evening) and then I have heard nothing until that phone call this morning saying they are picking the order right now. if others are suffering from the same delay I would be interested to know if they too supported Liverpool.... :?

Thanks for all the replies regarding delivery times.

I imagine they are super busy, as they must have had a raft of orders over the weekend for bars, stems, bottle cages etc, so I will not bother adding to their list of e-mails, and just assume that as my card has been charged that they will arrive later today or tomorrow, or even Thursday.

I will update when it arrives.

    Cheers

They seem to have forgotten to print the big gold 'test saddle' logo on it! :o

    It's rather light -

Probably not but it'll only be used on my race bike for 1hrish races...
  • Well, no bars and stem for me, unfortunately - having spoken to them (because i didn't get a dispatch e-mail), it appears that the online stock updating crashed over the weekend (probably because it's wife was making it watch x-factor), and whilst there were 2 bars showing when I ordered, there weren't any left.

P-X were very helpful and apologetic - I changed the order to one of those sexy saddles and a pair of the ultralight brake calipers and they've kindly chucked in a carbon bottle cage (don't all rush at once, there was a small problem with my previous order too!), but you can't say fairer than that and Caroline was massively helpful and pleasant, so all round I'm pleased with the outcome. Great service in the face of a problem, and IMHO, that's when it matters.

And the weigt saving with the saddle and brakes will be higher too!

Wanted to get some of the brakes with the free funky QR ti/carbon levers but got a bit confused as the website was saying in one place it was the alloy levers and in another the ti/carbon.

I rang to check and they are amending the site as I write this :(

I'd have the 110 stem.... but the bars are too big unless there is anyone who wants to swap their 42's for some 44's and complete the chain??????????????

Sorry......... I'd HAVE the stem IF someone on here wanted to swap their 42's for your 44's and make my end up with 110 / 42

Not worth it for just the stem

ANYONE HERE GOT 42 bars and prefer a 44 in exchange??

(if so we have a deal, if not sorry).

My saddle on the Look. Swapped the Thomson stem in for the Carbon FSA. Saved 103 grams. Actually I saved about 300 grams because there was a load of water in the seat tube!

    Non OCP photo I'm afraid...
