I saw these yesterday. If the bars had been available in 40cm width I would have jumped at them.

If the stem had been oversize too I would have just bought a stem, but alas a 26mm stem was unlikely to be much use unless I'd have been able to get the bars to match.

I just have to keep my fingers crossed that they arrive when she's at work.

Although a NapD trick is to say 'Don't Open them!!!!' pretending it may be a christmas gift for MrsNapD, then buy her something that is in a similar sized package.

    It has worked numerous times....

What about going for 26 and double layering bar tape, you get extra comfort and will make the bar feel a little thicker? Please tell me this is stupid, I don't need a new bar and stem, but much cheapness!

Err.... 26mm or OS is only the clamp size, not the diameter of the bar all the way along.

That doesn't sound so bad then, I notice the bar is aero flattened along the top, should make fore a bit more comfort. Any other downsides from 26mm versus OS? All my other bars have been OS.

Ah bolleaux to it, too cheap to refuse - ordered! Damn you d4mi4nr
Still, could always ebay them if they're not suitable, probably make a profit!
    Cheers.
  • What you chaps need is what Primera of Bournemouth describe as a 'wife receipt'

Apparently they've issued them numerous times to avoid marital strife caused by carbon purchases...

The Zipp stem is almost exactly the same as the Bontrager XXX-Lite stem. They look ultra-cool. Only drawback is it's hard to mount computers on them because they taper so much.

The bars are also similar to the Bonty Race X-Lite flat bars I have.

All-in-all - a MASSIVE bargain at £100. My set-up cost close to double that.

That was a concern of mine, but I suppose I will just mount my Garmin Edge on the bars instead. No point covering up that beautiful Zipp stem anyway :D

  • First posting on here-so hi!!

This looks too good to be true-but as I'm a novice can anyone confirm if I would be able to put clip on tri bars onto thse bars (I have grand ideas of doing a Ironman next year)? Never used wing type bars before.

No, they're not clip on compatible, pretty sure it says as much on the Planet X site somewhere.
