Started my first ever build tonight:
Bars, brifters, brakes, brake cables (internal) all sorted out. Bolted on the front mech and saddle too when I was at it. Rear mech arrives tomorrow so I can hopefully complete the build pretty soon, although I've never set up tubeless or set up derailleurs before.
Only cut the wrong length of outer once! Rite of passage I suppose.0 -

Update: Tubeless is fun to set up over lunch isn't it? Eventually got there with just a track pump so I'm pretty happy with that. Discovered a puncture right away in a Schwalbe One I'd previously used with a tube for a couple of hundred miles so I know the sealant works too...0 -
Finished the build last night. Next time I'm building a brakeless fixie0

Cut the donut holder off the Cervelo. Only taken a year.
Plan to do the same on the CX tomorrow, and the mudguards on the Dolan.Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX

Just fitted a new tube to my daughters mtb. 24" wheels, rigid tyre, no drama, no levers required.0

87km in 2hrs30m followed by a stroll along the river, a triple roast lunch and three pints of Aspall's in the sun means my fettling plans for today didn't come to fruition.Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX

Removed cassette on dying aksium, cleaned it to a reasonable standard, and put it on the brand new zonda. Brand new GP4S to replace Pro4 Endurance v2 with roughly 3200 & 4600 km.0

I fitted a pair of Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres.

Final spacer off the race bike. Taken me 5 years to get the back flexibility to get rid of it. #baeroFat chopper. Some racing. Some testing. Some crashing.

Realised Ive done 590km on the new bike without giving it any oil to the chain.
Took the chain off, and threw it in a bottle of cleaner, where it will probably stay until Sunday.Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

Spend an hour sunday evening cleaning, re-oiling, checking everything over as a 6 week /600km post purchase type thing.
Lovely to ride first thing, silent, everything in perfect running order.
Until..

Not sure I'm ready to think about winter yet but autumn is definitely here. Suspect Saturday's ride in summer kit will be the last for a while, so I need to lube the summer bike then move it to the back of the heap.
Winter bike with guards for the next 6 months, so I'll be checking and lubricating that too.0 -

I only really use two seasons. Summer I'm drinking white wine and using the BBQ. Winter I'm drinking red wine and using the log burner.Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX

It was 23c on Sunday afternoon so we fitted in one last BBQ, then stripped and degreased the thing and bunged it in the shed just in time for the rain
I've worked in / around agriculture all my life so my year has all 4 seasons. But like you,at this time of year I'm making the switch from drinking white wine and lagers to red wine and darker beers and stout. And making sloe gin...0 -
Put the bent hangar back in line .
Really enjoyed the simple task, getting it 'just so', and the crisp, clean shifting again afterwards was well worth it.Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

Cleaned the drivetrain Tuesday, chain in Fenwicks for a 60 second shake and scraped the crud off the chainring and had to change the upper jockey wheel as it was nearly round with no teeth left  Riding to work today and the chain is jumping at times. Swapped the new jockey wheel with a used one of a spare mech in the hope that is the issue as that was the only part I replaced, if not then it's a spare cassette on and new chain.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

Bought a ISM split nose saddle off eBay for £50, its the Racing version in white colour. I had a Breakaway version before that but I sent it back as I think its too long and cumbersome, and there's too much unsused space on the back end of the saddle, you could land a helicopter on it. Racing version is perfect. The seller is Electric Mania. Fitted it on my Giant Defy, took some time to get the setting/alignment correct, and a little trial and error too. I was expecting chaffing issues on the inside thighs but its very little and barely noticeable, plus I was wearing trousers so chaffing's even harder to notice. Sit bones are dead after my first ride as its a hard saddle. My third and fourth ride, sit bones are no longer hurting anymore. I nearly doubted the saddle if its going to toast my sit bones every ride.0

A bit of lube on Little Slowbike's chain yesterday after the school drop.
Back on the bike this morning and "thank you Daddy, you've stopped the squeaking."
It has done 200 miles this year - plus untold before that ... not sure when it got the new chain - but it's years ago - before we got it!0 -
iPete's CX frame - couple of cracks in the seat tube after being run over (literally, by the look of it) in a racing incident.
Pete did all the time-consuming prep; structural part of the repair is now done and cured, just need to make it look nice...Pannier, 120rpm.0 -

Degreased the chain on the summer bike. Pleased to discover that Muc Off Ceramic Dry Lube can be thoroughly cleaned off using just water in the Park Tool chain cleaner. Not a drop of degreaser required, which means if the rest of the bike is relatively clean I can actually do the whole process on a workstand in the kitchen of my first floor tenement flat! Was even so clean that I felt fine taking the chain off and drying it on a baking sheet in the oven.
Now just need to decide whether to put more dry lube on or switch to wet lube this time. Sunday's forecast is wet wet wet so I should just be leaving this one home and using the winter bike with mudguards etc. but I've got a hillclimb event so it's ever so tempting to prep this racer for the weather instead...Custom Albannach Torragar [BUILD IN PROGRESS]
