    On my CAADX:
Good clean, degrease and lube, adjust brakes and re-index front and rear derailleurs

On an old Raleigh Team Panasonic I'm reviving:
Fitted new BB, headset bearings and fork, stem adapter, bars and levers, new brake cables (inner and outer) and brake calipers
First full build I've done, and I'm finding it very therapeutic :D

Fitting the Rubino Pros to the DT Swiss 1550 and then fitted the 12-30 cassette ready for the Prestige Limburg.

Fitted the BBB AluBoys to the Foil, gave the chain a good clean and waxed it.

Changed the cassette and chain, brake pads, cleaned, lubed. Moved my old wheels to my commute bike. All good then half to work realised that the tires need a little more air.

    More work on the Raleigh.
Chain set fitted, front and rear derailleurs, cassette and wheels (not a matching pair, but they're round and "roll well"), chain and pedals. Gears indexed and brakes adjusted, hub bearings removed, cleaned, greased
Everything seems to work as it should, but I'm unable to test it properly until the new saddle arrives.

Just 18 months ago, I was pretty pleased with myself for adjusting the brakes

Wednesday night removal of crank, bottom bracket for greasing and re-assembling. Rewarded with a creak-free commute today - whoopee!
Downside is one pinch bolt rounding off. n+1 time?

Fitted a Stages 6800 to the Canyon. Such an easy install. Now time for an FTP test next week.

I ran out of things to fettle last month, I've cleaned and reorganised my man cave three times since then so there was nothing else for it, it was time to re-fettle

Mtb bike upgraded from 9 to 10 speed - yup!
Daughter bike 2 stripped clean and recalled, ideally she needs a new one

Best of all my neighbour popped over his new spesh venge because I was shifting like a dog if at all. Now that's a nice bike and stupid light.

Bare in mind this is an almost shop new top end bike, this is what I found ...

    Stem not straight
Stem bolts not tight (could be the cause of above)
    Front mech not parallel
Shocking shifting and rubbing in all gears
    Hard clunky front mech
Unable to shift into largest cassette sprocket
    In-line adjusters ??? Why?
    Cables too long
Chain too long way too long in fact, touching in low low
    Quick releases tightened by superman
    Brake calipers overtight
Brake pads to far from rims
    Right shifter bent inwards
Shifters IMO don't need to be that tightly torqued
Bar tape is worse than if I'd fitted it

My guess is they let the Saturday boy play with it.

Anyway despite not having an 11 speed quick link I have managed to index the gears and correct all the issues above apart from the chain length and bar tape, natch!

I'd be right pissed off having laid down over £3k and receiving a bike delivered in that state.

Prepared the Foil for the Ardennes (Rapha Prestige Limburg 200k) - I'm thinking a standard double and 12-23 isn't an ideal 20% climb set-up for a lump like me. Also fitted and tested the ex-Rose DT Swiss 1550s on the group ride yesterday (very happy with them) given the (literally) rocky roads the Presitge will use (C50 carbons can be saved for another day). Wish I could get the Volagi over because it's perfect.

Anyhow, fitted a 33 inner ring onto an old 105 compact crank and a 12-30 cassette. The good news is that the Dura Ace chain was already pretty much perfect length. I'll test the set-up on the Tour of Cambridgeshire next weekend.

The good news is that summer might be arriving this week.

Retired and replaced the rear tyre on the Dolan - rubber all worn away, lots of gaping nicks and squared off. First time I've EVER retired a tyre without once having had a puncture in it, and it's done all my wet winter riding. 23mm Schwalbe Durano Plus. Replaced with same.

Moved SPD cleats toe-ward by 5mm (had been jammed all the way back for reasons that seemed sound at the time), a niggling knee issue on the fixie seems to have ameliorated, maybe even as a result; but resigned to the change fouling the setup on my SPD-equipped Caadx. Maybe an excuse to switch the Caadx over to speedplay: has anyone used the speedplay zero aeros? Any real benefit above and beyond ordinary speedplay cleats with Klip-on Kovers?

    I fixed a puncture.

Not much you'd think but after watching this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XUFVrl0UT4 on youtube, it was the first time that I managed to get my Gatorskin on just using my hands. No pinches, no swearing, not easy but much easier.

    Bizarre feeling of satisfaction!

Dropped the chain whilst riding through the park this morning, which somehow sent the long-cage mech flying into the back wheel; I bent it back enough to be rideable, but decided that riding the rest of the way to work and back was going to be a bad idea, so I pootled carefully back home and logged into the office remotely.

Popped downstairs at lunchtime to sort it all out. Straightened the mech hanger, fitted the short cage mech that I'd been meaning to refit anyway, and a new chain. Still couldn't get the front end shifting right; it seemed to be doing random down-shifts, which I ultimately tracked down to two badly bent teeth on the big ring, which presumably caused the original problem. Took the chainset off and dug out a spare big ring, but now I can't get one of the chainring bolts out. It's currently downstairs, soaking in penetrating oil.

That'll teach me to use the big ring

you wouldnt want to take that anywhere outside a velodrome or generally a glass smooth surface.

That's what you call plenty of caster - I suppose it's designed to be very stable at speed.

Move the saddle forward 5mm on the Inflite.

Much better. Need to put narrower bars on when I can be bothered and maybe a shorter stem. Undecided.

May be just narrower bars with a shorter reach will save the need for a new stem. Nice those Inflites.

Drilled out the final chainring bolt, and it turns out that the inner ring was on back-to-front, which would explain why I've always had trouble with the front shifting on that bike

Put everything back together properly, and it shifts like a dream :-)

Changed the BB bearings on my Campag Super Record crank. Cermics were £££ so changed to standard bearings although I've since found Aire Bearings which seem fab. Wiggle Dragon this weekend so hope the crank is up to the job.

New gear hanger installed. New cassette, new chain, powertap fettled and now up and running again. Fettled the gears. First time ever I've got them to work to perfection first attempt.

Just need to bring myself to have the patience to install a SRAM front derailleur.

Hanger - a pedestrian ran out into the road without looking straight into me. Down I went, bent hanger.

Chain - caked in 1,800 miles of grime. Easier to just replace than the hassle of degreasing. Cassette, just to be new with the chain.

Front derailleur, as experienced major chain suck with chain ramming itself up into the derailleur, so cheap enough just to replace than try and fettle and make do.
