I am too! And don't worry, she'll be there :)

I hate to bring it up, but we'll still ride if it's a bit rainy, won't we?

Oh, and Emma, I got my new pink saddle in the post today (finally) so I'll be trying it on over the next day or two - I'll let you know if I end up with a spare :)

Coriander, I hope you will make it?

Yes, I'll be there. Have been reassured.

Yay, both to pink saddles and Cori!

Now I MetChecked "Surrey" and got sunshine (or at least dry) for Sunday *optimist*

Fine to ride in the rain though, though you lot may be subjected to me in my revolting hi-viz yellow rain jacket if it is heavy.

Given how many of us there will be, might it be a good idea to ring the pub and warn them we'll be turning up at 1ish?

Could be a good idea, I am happy to give them a ring on Friday with numbers.

What is the done thing re. bike locks for lunchtime? I'd rather not bring my d-lock as I'd have to bring a backpack to carry it. Is it worth me buying one of those flex cable locks for deterrant purposes and winding it on to the back of my seat?

    A few things:

1: It's not gonna rain! Metcheck says temps of over 20, scattered cloud and v light wind. Perfect.

2: No need for locks. The pub overlooks a massive common and there's seating outside so we can dump bikes on the grass and keep an eye on them

3: If someone wants to call the pub then that's prob a good idea, although knowing BR half the folk will pull out in the next few days anyway! :D

    Briliant.

I'll put the number for the pub in my phone and can always call as we set off once we know how many will be turning up.

OK so just a heads up on the last posted list of hopeful attendees:
[*]Dondaddyd (Laurence) - Surrey Ride [/*]
      [*]Shoulder of Lamb[/*]
      [*]Jamey (aka Jamey)[/*]
      [*]Cori (Fiona) [/*]

      [*]PinkPedal (Emma)[/*]
      [*]Sewinman (Morgan)[/*]
      [*]LiT (Olivia)[/*]
      [*]Il Principe[/*]
      [*]Biondino (Mark)[/*]
      [*]King Donut (Mark)
      [/*][*]Greg T (Greg)[/*]
      [*]Stuey01 (guess...)[/*]
      [*]Pangolin (Sam)
      [/*]

      Obviously more are welcome.

Now I have some of your numbers, but given the large number of people who may turn up I don't think any one person will be able to keep track of who is who (well I won't and will be too busy putting my mind in the 'zone' ).

My suggestion would be to make arrangements with a friend to keep in contact on the day) and do try to get to the meeting point on time as we'll be leaving promptly for a "leave-no-one-behind-slowcial-pedalling at a 14.7mph pace at 90rpm-to-put-miles-in-legs-and-improve-fitness-pootle":roll:

The ride date and time are as follows:

9th August Surrey Route(Including optional pub stop @ the Cricketers) 42 miles, 1497 feet
Meeting point: Coffee shop near the Roehampton Gate Entrance
      Meeting time: 9.45am*
      Ride leader: Il Principe

*We'll leave at 10am promptly to give everyone a chance to arrive.

Principe, - Thank you for offering the lead the route.
Pink Pedal, - Thank you for offering to call the pub.
Everyone - Thank you for supporthing this.

      AND

DonDaddyD, - Thank you for posting your idea, getting the ball rolling, getting the slower bunch out together and remembering to privately invite some of the less active but in no way less awesome members on BR (you know who you are!). You are without question a top notch diamond geezer, ace, generally a nice guy, more awesome than Superman, special even, golden and a credit to mankind... :D

Chapeau! +1! and You win the Internet!!! :D

Looks like it's gonna be good fun just a damn shame that I can't make it along :-( Have fun you lot and we expect extensive reports and photo's on Sunday evening or Monday at the latest!!

No-one has my number but I'll just turn up on time and look out for a black dude on a kuota and that rather lovely Pinarello.
I'll be on a white Bianchi and wearing all black with Castelli across my chest.

See you all on Sunday. (barring saturday mountain bike crashes...)

Maybe next time, or the time after that depending on how close it falls to the SCR Trip, I have had to cash a sh!t-ton of brownie points to go on that so will need some time to re-stock ;-)

      • As if to make the above post come true, I can't make it. My brother is doing his first ever display in the spitfire at duxford that day, which is quite a big deal.

        Sorry peeps!

        Enjoy the ride, folks.

Will this involve some SCR action up Box Hill?
