Armstrong vs Contador

Kléber wrote:Contador feels genuinely put out by all this uncertainty, this is not a clever game.
As someone else said, Armstrong used to mock T-Mobile for their chaotic rivalries where UIlrich had to contend with rivals within the team, like Riis, Vino, Sevilla, Kloeden and Botero but now Astana risk imitating this chaos.
Not sure I agree with your "not a clever game". Could very well be a mind game of sorts. As for Ullrich and his T-Mobile rivals. He did come in 2nd. overall a few times. Not a bad result for a team in "chaos". I'm sure more than a few teams would like to have a few 2nd. places. Chaos or not, I'm not sure Ullrich could have beaten Armstrong.0 -
Come on Dennis everyone knows that you americans dont get sarcasm. Stupid comments should not be a problem however.0

I'm working hard at stupid. Seems to come easily with old age. However, my wife does say I'm very sarcastic and getting worse(and she's Irish, and she should know)0 -

Just out of curiosity was this so called "bored" photo released by Astana or was it taken
by someone else?0 -
Drone, drone, drone, you Lance-loving clone.
For the French out there, Contador's response to when Lance was saying how he is the best, he has won seven tours, he is the team leader, was simply "Mon oeil":
Lance is seriously cramping Contador's style. He thinks he is so special that he cannot train like every other pro rider in team kit and has to wear a black helmet so that all the tv crews can point him out. Please, I hope he has to withdraw within the first week.

It will all be settled on the road to Andorra. You can't buy, bully or twitter your way to the summit0

Ok I hope Lance has to retire this evening. This guy is a complete and utter conard and anyone who likes him is deluded and not a pure bike racer and supporter.
The Astana team was fined 65 Euros after failing to sign on within the specified time at the start in Marseille this morning.
The team was reportedly delayed by heavy traffic in the city center, but the organizers had little sympathy when Astana broke the rule that teams must register for the stage at least 20 minutes before the start of the race.
"How typical that this team were late. It is disrespectful to the public who came here just to see Armstrong," said race director Jean-Francois Pescheux. "The money makes no difference to them. We will ask the UCI to make the fines harder."
NOW GET THIS
More on the Astana fine ... and maybe why Pescheux was a little miffed this morning. Apparently the delay wasn't traffic related. The delay is reported to have been caused by Armstrong sharing a cup of coffee with actor Ben Stiller, who was visiting the Tour's VIP area here on Monday morning.
Armstrong had a cameo role in the 2004 movie "Dodgeball," a film I'm sure will rank right up there with "Casablanca" and "Citizen Kane" when future generations look back at the cinematic accomplishments of the first 100 years of film.

the usual whinners on are the thread this evening I see0

Missing the signing on is hardly a big deal Frenchfighter. What about hiring Dr Ferrari or Dr Fuentes, this must rate as a bigger concern for most.0

Certainly Kléber it is just that it demonstrates what a complete selfish, egotistical and unpleasant character he is who would make all pure supporters (as opposed to, amoung others, those who only watch the Tour) happier by staying at home.Contador is the Greatest0

Fan of Lance? No, not really. More of a "really enjoy bike racing" type of person.
Yellow band? No. Here in the States they seem to be worn either because you're "supposed" to wear them or to identify yourself as an athlete. Although I'm sure many people wear them because they believe in the cancer cause. As for me, well, my brain works this way. I thought they were stupid when they first came out and I still think so. Add to that the fact that I take great pride in not doing what I'm "supposed" to do.0 -

That bit of the Velonews story appears to have been written by you. Velonews didn't blame the delay on Armstrong. They say that Armstrong had a coffee with Stiller "before the start". For all you know that could have been after he'd signed onhttp://velonews.com/article/94564/ast ... re-stage-3

Eurostar you are mistaken, try and be sure of yourself before you cast aspersions - I simply copied and pasted the text. To meddle with it is beneath me.
Dave_1. The first thing to do when you are on the defensive is to attack with personal comments. I avoid this but you have demonstrated it like so many others on this forum.

Hmm. How come none of the above words from your post are on the Velonews site?

OK...maybe Armstrong's lawyers got in there and threatened to sue them before they wrote the story. Wouldn't surprise me.

With 5km to go on stage 3 and Armstrong is ahead of Contador in the lead group. Eurosport's live text commentary produces this classic line:
"Contador is a fair way off the front of the chasing group, with a face like a slapped backside. To be fair, the only GC contender he's losing time to is Armstrong, so it's a fair decision from Bruyneel to keep the American working in the lead group together with Zubeldia and Popo."0 -

hey I wasn't been specific about you Frenchfighter...want to see the look on LAs face a week from now or later when Contador beats him. It's good fun following the rivarly and the out of control ego of LA0 -

Could very well be more(or even less) of a man than Lance(whatever that means), but you might get an argument about the rider part. Pretty sure that 7 straight TDF wins puts almost anyone in a very elite rider category. I'm PRETTY sure that's how it works.0 -
I've explained why LA's is not a quality cyclist in my eyes, or rather not as good as most people seem to think. Look back at some of my posts if you want to know why.Contador is the Greatest0

A French race owned by a Yank for 7yrs, i can see why some don't like him :roll:0

Please can we not elongate this thread by recyling all the usual Lance stuff? Can we keep it specific to this Tour? Pretty please?
