Oooh, they've gone Reynolds with the P7
Nice to see the frame is otherwise not massively changed (aside from another dropout redesign). You do realise that your build isn't a P7 Pro though don't you; the difference between the One, S and the Pro is in the kit, not the frame so yours is neither S nor Pro but rather something unique!Faster than a tent.......0 -

Yeah was really pleased when they told me that they had gone Reynolds.
Yeah, I know that the difference is in the kit but with the kit i'm gonna be using was more the 'Pro' way than the 'S' so decided to use that, besides 'Pro' sounds coolOrange 2010 P7 - Custom Build - My New Bikey Poos

Another man of taste 8) Red/White rules K.O!
I got it for £399, the best price online I could see was £450-£499. Also got it from my LBS which is G A Cycles in Southampton, they are a main Orange Dealer.
The Orange has rear sliding dropouts, replaceable mech hangers, Reynolds steel, Crud Catcher mounts on the downtube, and this year they have added an extra support brace on the rear brake side so that you can run bigger rear rotors without any worries. plus its just a quality, well put together frame & the tubes are larger than some other steel frames so it doesnt look skinny 8)
Would love to see you do a build thread too, post up pics of what you've got for it already as well 8)Orange 2010 P7 - Custom Build - My New Bikey Poos

Can't argue with that at allFaster than a tent.......0 -
£400 bargain! And "gone reynolds?" i'm afraid you'll have to explain that one!
Also i've been thinking about getting my patriot resprayed, white seems like a good choice... at the moment it's got a sort of grey/black/red theme going on0 -
A little bit more than i really wanted to spend, I think I'll stick with the duster for now (should be arriving around sept 10, been waiting months ) The p7 looks awesome though and i do like the sliding dropouts
I'll try and get some build pics up.
Have you seen the goodridge brake hoses by the way... you can get white hoses with red anodised connectors £60 though...lol, I'm still debating if i should get some...0 -

Reynolds is the company that makes the steel frames, they have a very good reputation of quality strong builds over the years: http://www.reynoldsusa.com/Orange 2010 P7 - Custom Build - My New Bikey Poos

Shame but better for me that you dont get one as 'I'm the only P7 on the Forum'
Yeah would love to see your build too.
I have seen the Goodridge and was all set to get red cables etc but I thought sometimes less is more, so I'm trying to keep the build clean and simple. Anyway the Hope Tech V2s that are going on there come with the silver Goodridge hoses anyway 8)
Still, tempting, white cables and red connectors? umm...........Orange 2010 P7 - Custom Build - My New Bikey Poos

I think the main difference with the Reynolds tubes might be a slight weight saving. It probably makes little difference but it is good for a UK bike manufacturer to support a longstanding quality UK company like Reynolds. TBH, I was a bit surprised they weren't using Reynolds before.
Here is the proper weblink (exactly the same as Da Mighty Chickens but it doesn't mention USA in the name http://www.reynoldstechnology.biz/ )
BTW - about the Strange handgrips - mine have lasted about 1200 miles though mostly on the commute. This weekend I rotated the grips through 180 degrees (pulled the ends out and flipped the rubber bit only so the bolts are in the same place). The only wear had been on the top on the outer edge so I reckon they have at least another 1200 miles to go and thats if I'm bothered about a small area of rubber worn smooth. They are years away from breaking up.Faster than a tent.......0 -
Good to know about the grips, thanksOrange 2010 P7 - Custom Build - My New Bikey Poos

From what I have read is that they also decide on the way the frames are made, as they know the properties of the steel, someone with more knowledge may know more but i'm sure its kinda of a partnership when a frame builder wants to use their steel?Orange 2010 P7 - Custom Build - My New Bikey Poos

aye, you're probably right. I don't know much about this stuff.0

It isn't as though it is just plain tubing - the butting, stays, forks are provided in tube sets. You could almost as easily say that Reynolds makes the bike, the frame builder just assembles it.Faster than a tent.......0
