What if the chain snaps and you need to remove a broken link?0 -

lol, I do like the look of the white 'Peaty' grips but it has one blue collar and my colour scheme on this build is white & red.GHill wrote:What if the chain snaps and you need to remove a broken link?

Your quite right it is white alright.
That will look mint on your build - can't wait for you to post the piccys when built.
The P7s are ace, although I've never owned one myself. The closest I got was a C16R which used to be the same but with a slightly lower grade chromoly steel. It was one of the best MTBs I've ever owned. I could really get that thing going. Orange make some really great frames.
I think I am starting to get somewhat envious .mighty chick0 -

Just a quick question? I am just starting to look at a bike to use for adventure racing and general use and the Orange's have caught my eye. I am looking at either a G3 or Evo8 if I can persuade the Fiancee that I do need to stretch the budget that far!
I was just wondering why you have gone for the P7? Great bike I'm sure I am just trying to figure out if it is possibly one I should consider.
CheersIf it doesn't hurt in the process, its not worth doing in the first place!

Hi Grinham,
I wanted something that was strong and could take some abuse but also was good for all day jaunts and alot of fun at the same time and the P7 fitted this nicely, it also wins awards in magazine tests and generally well reviewed. I want to build up a hard tail that'll last for a long time and as the frame is a good one its worth keeping & upgrading as the years roll on, i'm not going to be changing every five minutes.
I was going to buy my wife the G3, it rode really well and she liked it when she test rode it, however I got her the Carrera Fury (link in sig) which was a higher spec for half the price, its heavier but its all she needs.
I hope that helps?Orange 2010 P7 - Custom Build - My New Bikey Poos

It really helps to understand why people are buying bikes and the reasons for their decisions. (Main reason I am on here!).
I look forward to seeing how the rest of this build goes!If it doesn't hurt in the process, its not worth doing in the first place!

cool stem, i love the look of anything cnc'd
The build should be pretty cool, though i do think white cranks could be a little too much, i'd go with black if it was me, to match the stem etc, OR get some of the new atlas AM cranks in red and kit it all out with like a red hope finishing pack, would look sweet! I have a pair of raceface turbines (old atlas, basically), and they are excellent cranks, just needs all the rings replacing as they're totally worn.0 -
@ ilovedirt, thanks for your feedback, I'm kinda thinking it'll be too much white, so still not sure, maybe i'll just go for an all black chainset like XTR - RF Deus XC etc..?
And yeah I'm going with a red finishing pack, a mix of Chris King & Hope 8)
Woooohoooo, just got the call that my frame has arrived at my LBS, apparently Orange had done me one for the end of last week but they werent happy with the paint job as it had some blemish or other, so they repainted me a new frame!
but Booo, I cant get it for another few hours as the wifes out with the car! Still happy timesOrange 2010 P7 - Custom Build - My New Bikey Poos
