Can you not buy the Pike's elsewhere and post the to TF Tuned? I imagine it would be a fair bit cheaper. I bought a spring from TFT and fitted it to my Lyriks myself. Very easy instructions on the TFT website as well. 5 minute jobby!Trek Remedy 7 2009

dot1 I think you've got confuddled there fella.
He'll be buying the revs from TFT, and getting them sorted before they ship them.
I imagine if he went for the Pikes (UK Bike Store have the best prices I found at about £370 iirc), he'd just change the spring at home, that's what I'm doing. As you say, tt's a 5min job.0 -
Ahh I see. I assumed when he said the spring would be changed free of charge, he was sending the Pikes to TFT to buy a new spring and get it fitted.
Still, buy the Rev's! I had the 426 Dual airs, and they were Barry White levels of smooth.Trek Remedy 7 2009

Feck, never mind, it's me who's got confuddled  It looks like he was indeed planning on getting the pikes from TFT, buying a new spring and having it swapped over before they ship them.
Didnt see that bit at first
DMC, as mentioned above by dot1, you can get the Pike 454 u-turns, with Maxle, for £370 (£360 if you pick them up from York). £40 for the new spring which you then fit yourself. Means your total cost is £410 tops.0 -
Hee hee, seems I've caused some confusion
Yeah, both Pike & Revs were going to be from TFTuned, I was thinking, mainly with the Revs that its all in the price and the professionals sort it out, didn't realise that UK Bike Store had the Pikes so cheap, which then makes the difference about £100 (need to buy spare oil for spring changes?)
So its Pikes and save about £100, BUT, I'd need to do the spring change, OR
Get the Revs, £100 more, but its everything sorted and done, no messing?
Whats the verdict then guys?

I'd go with the Rev DMC... think it matches the aim of the build a bit more than the pike. What We Achieve In Life, Echoes In Eternity0

This ^
Also, I know you're worried about weight and spring rate with Pikes. At least with the Revs, all you need is a shock pump.
Think of it like clothes, Pikes come in Small, Med, Large and XL, whereas Revs are more like a tailored suit that can be adjusted to fit you perfectly
Somebody write that down ^^

Rev Teams ordered now, so all parts paid for (well apart from possibly the white Goodridge gear cable kit?)
So in a few weeks, my LBS will sort it all out for me as quoted an excellent price, cant refuse!
I will however, be there to take lots of build progress photos to update this thread (and of course ply the shop staff with cakes and biscuits
(cant stop grinning from ear to ear!!!)Orange 2010 P7 - Custom Build - My New Bikey Poos

Lazy lazy barsteward!
The point of a "custom build" is to build it yourself :roll:0 -
I've gone to the trouble of reading the longest BR thread in history about a custom build and you're gonna let a bike shop build it for you!!!!
I feel like I've just been mugged.

new thread title of "New 2010 Orange P7 Pro Custom SPEC'D" needed!
You might as well have taken a shopping list to your LBS and asked them to get it for you... would have only taken a few weeks
Who you paying to ride it? :P0 -
Calm down girls!
For the cost of the LBS building it, I'm getting a great deal, and as this will be my first bike for a long time I haven't the supply of tools, but, I will collect tools along the way so that I can learn to do all my own repairs, my main priority is getting the bike completed and to get out riding.
And for those of you that own a dictionary, please look up the word custom!
I would love to do it myself but all things considered at this time I am going to let my LBS do the work, and in what way does it detract from my joy of spec'ing my bike, researching all the parts and learning alot on the way and finally getting to ride my own 'custom' (don't forget to check that word out kids!) bike?
