Shave 3 mins off the uphill return journey this evening, that without using the bent big ring  and dropping the chain twice, I seriously need to spend more time fettling.

Enjoyed a nighttime pootle in near perfect conditions this evening. No wind, very little traffic, good company and warm enough for just one layer! :)

  • After a weekend away skiin, I am now WAY behind. And more annoyingly, I had a bit of a sudden stop (aka crash) in the deep snow and neck hurts LOTS.

I shall have to fight back next week.

But your only 250 miles from 1st place - you'll soon catch up. Positions are highly misleading at this stage. Cheer up!! 8)

But it's another 2 weeks until the baby's due. I'm not allowed to ride to work incase I have to rush back and then after that I've got 4 weeks off work no doubt during which time iding of any sort will be forbidden. whaa whaaa whaaa!

4 weeks? In your dreams. A week of being cooped up with you in the house with a squawking baby and she'll virtually order you out to get some peace, as long as you reciprocate and give her an hour or two off from time to time. 4 weeks. Meh.

Actually you've given me an idea. I'm just going to be as annoying as possible for the first week or so then some 100 milers for the next 3 weeks. I wonder how a baby seat would go on my Boardman?

    Gusting crosswinds are not fun.

Playing with 60 mph traffic in the dark is one thing, but gusts blowing the bike several feet off line is another. Ended up cycling on a combination of hard shoulder, grass verge, pavement and mud, which was fun in a perverted sort of way.

    Me wanna try cyclocross.

First day commuting this year today.

I'm unspeakably unfit. Hopefully I'll be quicker on Thursday (day off tomorrow).
  • Just registered for this now for the new year.

So its all road miles? Commuting and leisure miles but no indoor nonsense?

    What about Mountainbiking miles?

Thats good for another 20 or so a week for me

Hi Barry. Stick all your outdoor miles up - any bike ride counts. An hour on the rollers isn't a bike ride though.

    Welcome to the leaderboard.
  • Excellent.
I will measure my weekly MTB route and add the 3 weekends of miles up when I do.

I'm never going to get anywhere you long distance commuters without some serious w/end mileage. Grr to short commutes and 15 lost days in Jan.

That's a bit extreme. Resign, then look for a job further away to save the emotional upheaval of moving house. Miles is miiles...

I was supposed to put in some extra training miles last night but my legs just weren't up for it.

See how it goes this evening.

Don't forget i'm away for two weeks in Feb. summer training camp

However i'll be putting in the miles at the weekends, plus last year whilst away I managed to clock an almost 300 mile week, great what you can do when you've a little more free time.
